I only plan on using all 3 monitors when I game, otherwise I normally have my side monitors off.
Is there anyone way for me to have all icons, windows, videos that will default to opening up on the centre screen only?
Even when I watch youtube videos in fullscreen...the time bar will drag across 3 but the video itself will only play in the centre...so if I want to watch another segment in the video I have to go to my side screens just to click through the video time.
If that doesn't exist, perhaps a plugin/profile/script that I can assign my keyboard macro keys to toggle between 1920x1080 and 5760x1080?
How to Have Everything in Centre Screen?
Try "Matrox PowerDesk", this
Try "Matrox PowerDesk", this application should achieve what you are looking for, much like AMD's Hydragrid.
Alternatively use windows key + p to toggle between spanned, extended and/or single display modes, ie:- 5760x1080, 3x1920x1080, 1920x1080.

thanks for your response.I
thanks for your response.
I didnt get around to try this until now.
I couldn't find the link to download the Matrox software...on their website it only has driver dl for its products. I also don't see in the description a function to have all in the centre screen.
Playing around with Windows Button + P...Computer Only/Project Only gives me the default 5760x1080 res...duplicate puts everything but only on the right screen with no task bar...extend gives me centre screen but right screen is still on.
Any ideas?

there must be
there must be eyefinity/surround users that only use centre screen when not in a game?
How do you manage to keep things only on the centre screen desktop?
I'm sure there's an answer out there...TIA

I used to change from single screen to triple screen using win + p. With eyefinity that works very well, but for surround it only works for some and not for you or me. Changing resolutions from 5760x1080 to 1920x1080 and back is your best bet. Already searched for a gadget that does that, but haven’t found any. Since all my icons are on my taskbar( which is centered) instead of my desktop I leave my three screens on at all time. My middle monitor is the only one that has a wallpaper, so both side monitors are black. So it feels they are kinda of and on at the same time. This solution works for me, but might be unsatisfactory for you.

thanks...bummer.I've wanted
thanks...bummer.
I've wanted to stick with only single screen for all non-gaming purposes to avoid burn-in and eating up the screen's life as I've the same side panels as you (U2311H that uses the old CCFL tech)
It's weird how Windows button + P doesn't give me single screen on my centre display...yet when I switch resolution back to 1920x1080 I get it on the centre...
edit: ii've never noticed it before but I actually see ghosting of my white mouse cursor on this perfectly black screen. Not a big deal if I don't percieve any ghosting in-game.
