SpellForce: The Order of Dawn / Breath of Winter / Gold

Post by Paradigm Shifter »

I just picked up SpellForce Gold cheap, and I've been hunting for a way to get it to run in widescreen. There is a .lua file full of settings, but the only reference to res is:

Code: Select all

Resolution='7'
Obviously not quite what I was hoping for. ;)

Anyone?

I'm intrested if anyone could post a solution for this game as well. Or if someone could tell me how do I hex edit and find out how to modify this game to support my 2005FPW 1680x1050 rez?

Thx,

I'm thinking about reinstalling this and having a crack at it again. If I can get it working in widescreen, anyway.

If the res references are contained within the .exe, I might be able to do something...

I'll update if I find anything.

Cool thanks... I just got the Platinum Edition from Amazon for $17.98. It has the original SF, + BOW and Rise of Pheniox. It's on DVD too.
If you do get you need a patch from the SF site.

Thanks,
Dan

Ureschanger

Post by MadMoogle »

Hi,

I tried to use Racer_S's ureschanger2 to set Spellforce resolution to 1680*1050 and ... it works :)

Version 2 is available here: http://dl.tocaedit.com/ureschanger2.zip

added 2 new options:

windowed - self explanitory
forceviewport - helps with clipping, but may screw up gfx.

However there is stretching, but it is quite bearable, since the characters are rather on the tall & thin side.

Nevertheless it is very enjoyable to be able to set a high resolution, the game looks much much better !

Better solution?

Post by Ergonpandilus »

Is there any other solution for this great game? I used to play it while ago, I think I got the first expansion trough actually, and now I'd like to give it another try.

I encountered a problem while using Universal Resolution Changer v2.0

When I try to apply it to Russian version of Spellforce: The Shadow of
Phoenix, it screw all Cyrillic letters...

i'd also like to know how to use the fix mentioned above with the URC, doesn't seem to do anything if i drop it into the spellforce game folder, also should mention that i have the aussie version of the game, has them all, its called Spellforce Universe, any help to make this wide screen would be useful, i have a Samsung Syncmaster 2233sw and it has a whine whenever i play game that ain't on its native resolution, so it disables the screen... and there is no way to stop it :(
