Th2Go Support for Alienware M11x? Max res 2048x600??

Post by Sp4m »

Good day! I need to get my Matrox TH2Go (DVI) connected to my M11x laptop.
It doesn't seem to be working properly. The image only goes to 2 monitors, at a resolution of ~2048x600.
It's pretty awful.

The laptop is outputting Display Port to a DP-> DL-DVI adapter, to the DL-DVI cable that came with the TH2Go.

the monitors are 19" rosewills, and this setup works perfectly (minus DP->DVI adapter) on my desktop.
I have tried 2 different DP->DVI adapters.

I am starting to think that this laptop has some sort of hard limit on the display driver preventing output to these resolutions.

does anyone have experience with this or something similar?

For future reference, here's what I think is going on...

I *believe* the M11x-R@ has a MAX resolution of 2560x1600.
Since the Th2Go exceeds this, at a rather awkward aspect ratio, the M11x does its best to compromise... I think.
The Max Hz Res may be stuck at 2560, and the vert res pops to something close to maintain the aspect ratio (600).

Long story short, Th2Go is not really compatible with M11x.
What a shame.

If the m11x has an ATI GPU, it's not really compatible with the TH2Go. The highest I've seen is 3840x1024.

Also, what DL-DVI adapter are you using? If it's a passive adapter, it's NOT DL-DVI. You need an an adapter that has a usb cable coming out of it for power.
