damn all u guys with your spare cash (jelous) to buy a 690
i would love one but i simply dont have the funds
well i could take it out the joint savings account but i think the wife would file for a divorce lol
Actually, I am considering canceling my order. Only having 2gb per gpu has something to do with it, but mainly because the game that I will be playing the next couple of month aren't taxing enough. The last couple of days I have been back and forth and can't seem to decide.

Tossing up wither I should bring one back to NZ or not, microstutter sounds like a concern tho, haha and the price - single 5870 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

The concern might be from different experiences and whatnot. For me, I had a terrible experience with AMD's 6990 and AMD's technical support in general.
On NVIDIA, I haven't had a single issue. But the difference is I'm running an SLI setup as opposed to a dual GPU card. (All be it, GTX 570 in SLI isn't as high end). This is mainly where concern from micro-stutter comes in for me. Dual GPU on Crysis (maxed out) in Surround yielded some horrid micro-stutter. SLI on the other hand, hasn't given me a single stutter or freeze.
Let's say I do decide to keep it. I figure that it would be easy to sell, based on that the GTX 590 only went up in price after launch. Do you guys agree with that?

New plan: cancel GTX 690 order and buy 2 GTX 670's 4gb when I need the gpu horsepower. Maybe Nvidia and AMD will start an price war, which will only be beneficial for us.

"Sounds like a plan Hannibal" (Sorry A-Team no infringement intended but couldn't resisit)
AMD droped the price around 50$ cuz Nvidia's GPU were so powerfull! (well, maybe the sold them 50$ more expensive than expected cuz there were no Nvidia competition cards at launch ?) why should Nvidia lower the price now ? they don't have enought production capability! TSMC is producing as much as they can!
Sure, but AMD has reason to drop their prices, since Nvidia offers better price/performance cards especially the GTX 670. In return Nvidia will do the same. Might take more than a couple of months though.

[quote]Where did you get that 690 for €895 :O , can you please post a link? They're going for over €1050 here as well. Thank you.
Here is the link, but they are not in store yet. Also its a Dutch website which means, you probably have higher shipping rates. The price has gone up a little since Saturday.
Thanks :onethumb

I would love 2 670's but I have a weird triple screen setup. I use a 5970 with a u2711 2560x1440 center and 2 dell 1680x1050 outside screens. With eyefinity I can switch in and out of eyefinity and extended monitors in 5 secs using win+p. (after having setup eyefinity of course.)
I like the big screen for the games that do not have triple screen support or are a little to hard on the gpu like metro. Then in flight sims, shooters etc that play nice in triple I can go to eyefinity at 5040x1050 with bm easily.
Nvidia does not let you do mismatched screen res PROPERLY. They let you do it but not at the right res.
Nvidia has come a long way with surround this time with all the additions in features and of course playing with one card. But for me and I am probably one of the very very few that uses mismatched res monitors to multi mon game I have to use AMD.
If nvidia would fix this one feature I would probably go green with 2 670 cards.
according to the nvidia forums they made like "Ten" 4gb 680s, someone in germany claims to have one and posted a vid of it running 3x1 here:

if they made 10, maybe someone will make more?
heres hoping
and i know the thread is for the 690, but hardocp did give the 680 a editors gold award.
im pretty excited about these things personally
