Hi guys,

I got my 7950 pc from Sapphire today and am having some problems. I got eyefinity to work right away, but after switching from extended desktop back to eyefinity I don’t have triple 1080p res. It only duplicates the desktop three times. Now when I click on the eyefinity tab in ccc, it will only give me the option to create a new group (no options for bezelcomp and disabling for example). I am using the 11.12 drivers for 7xxx. Reinstalled them already but that doesn’t help. Any tips on how to solve this issue?

Sounds to me like Windows Multiple Desktop stuff is interfering with your CCC Eyefinity. Haven't got a clue how or why, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

Somehow installing 12.3 rc fixed my problem, while reinstalling 11.12 didn’t. I heard some rumors that 12.3 rc wasn’t the best driver for 79xx, so initially I stayed clear of them. Testing them now anyway, I guess.

Anyway, walked right into a new problem. Afterburner has a max overclock of 1200mhz on the core (which is kind of enough). The current beta doesn’t let you enable unofficial overclocking (it will reset all values to 0 and won’t let you change them). Trixx has a maximum of 1300mhz, but it is giving me problems as well. It tells me to disable ULPS and when I do, the program doesn’t let me overclock a single mhz and gives me the same error. Restarting Windows doesn’t work, restarting Trixx doesn’t work and manually disabling ULPS doesn’t work. It not just the max overclock of 1300 instead 1200. This error won’t let me use Trixx at all. Any ideas are welcome.

EDIT: What do you know. The last thing I tried (using restore point) worked. Every time I have a problem like this I always end up using one and it almost always saves me. Maybe I am not capable of learning... ;)

yeah... happens to me often, when i'm in extended Monitors and create eyefinity it goes to duplicated mode and says eyefinity group done!
Then i just change menue, go back and create a New Eyefinity! that works.

Btw, guess you're now back on old 8.921.2(or5) driver... but did you try XLC command for Afterburner to exceed CCC limits ?

After some more testing I know more. The problem with eyefinity not being able to be created, had to do with the duplicate monitor function in Windows. If you duplicate monitors after you set eyefinity, things will get screwed up. The only way to fix is was using restore point. Was able to replicate the problem and fixed again with the restore point. The reason that Trixx was giving me problems had to do with the 12.3 rc drivers which, do something funny with the ULPS settings. Trixx detects that and won’t let you overclock at all. Earlier drivers do work with Trixx though.

The thing is that bf3 won’t run smoothly on the 11.12 drivers for the 79xx series. They run great on the 12.3 rc’s. Those drivers have different issues though. One of which is performance (e.g. 600 points less in 3dmark11 and less fps in most games). Since they are beta drivers, I don’t aspect much from them (bugs are normal). Any tips on which drivers I could use instead of either one the above. Don’t like to go back to 11.12 since they made bf3 stutter like crazy.

Offtopic: Wijkert, why did you choose to go for an HD7950? I thought you were contemplating the Asus HD7970 and after that a regular HD7970.

Was in Extended Mode! Created a Eyefinity Group. said "Group Created" but just changed to duplicated mode!
Then i deactivated Eyefinity setup. and created a new one! that worked!

Offtopic: Wijkert, why did you choose to go for an HD7950? I thought you were contemplating the Asus HD7970 and after that a regular HD7970.

I was contemplating both the 7950 oc from sapphire (best aftermarket cooler on the market right now, imo) and the 7970 CUII. Since the CUII wasn't out and I don't really like that card accept for the fact that is 4 identical outputs, so tearing should be less and the 7950 was selling for under 430 euro's, I couldn’t contain myself ;).

As you can see in the screenshot of my first post the problem was I couldn't disable Eyefinity again, which mend I was stuck in a loop.

Tried this: MSIAfterburner -XCL.exe, but that didn't work. I don't feel smart right now.

Less? I believe you mean no tearing :p But anyway, how's the card working out for you performance wise?
