I have seen in a few places these Dual-Link DVI m to Displayport m cables. Here are some examples:

So if I have a monitor that requires dual link bandwidth through a dual-link DVI cable, will this cable work and give me dual-link bandwidth through the graphics cards displayport?
Could it be that the cable has the correct amount of pins for dual-link DVI, but it doesn't actually carry the required bandwidth?
Or is it so that always when converting a dual-link DVI signal, you need an active adapter?
