Read Full Detailed Report - Grandia II

Grandia II is a role-playing video game developed by Game Arts originally for the Dreamcast console as part of their Grandia series. It was developed by many of the same staff members who worked on the original Grandia, including music composer Noriyuki Iwadare but was designed around the idea of creating a more "mature" product than the previous title, as well as the first in the series to feature fully three-dimensional graphics.

The game is set in a fantasy world thousands of years after a battle between Granas, the god of light, and Valmar, the god of darkness, nearly destroyed the planet until Valmar was split into pieces and scattered across the land. In the aftermath of the battle, the Church of Granas has led humanity to prosperity by spreading the word of good, but when a young mercenary named Ryudo is charged to protect a songstress from the church named Elena, their journey reveals that the church's history, as well as the history of the world, is not all it seems.

Hey anito9999, download a Hex Editor, such as Be.HexEditor, open Grandia2.exe (always backup the original file first !) using the hex editor, then search for the HEX values as described in the game's Detailed Report and replace (selecting 800x600, to get 1440x900) both 20 03 for A0 05 and both 58 02 for 84 03, so itll look like this:

A0 05 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 84 03 00 00 E9 8A 00 00 00 8B 90 44 01 00 00 C7 42 54 20 00 00 00 C7 86 24 02 00 00 A0 05 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 84 03

Yes, try this for 1600x900 if you set your config to 800x600:

40 06 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 84 03 00 00 E9 8A 00 00 00 8B 90 44 01 00 00 C7 42 54 20 00 00 00 C7 86 24 02 00 00 40 06 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 84 03 00 00 EB 67 8B 80 44 01 00 00 C7 40 54 10 00 00 00 C7 86 24 02 00 00 00 04 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 00 03 00 00 EB 44 8B 88 44 01 00 00 C7 41 54 20 00 00 00 C7 86 24 02 00 00 00 04 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 00 03

or this if you set to 1024x768:

20 03 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 58 02 00 00 E9 8A 00 00 00 8B 90 44 01 00 00 C7 42 54 20 00 00 00 C7 86 24 02 00 00 20 03 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 58 02 00 00 EB 67 8B 80 44 01 00 00 C7 40 54 10 00 00 00 C7 86 24 02 00 00 40 06 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 84 03 00 00 EB 44 8B 88 44 01 00 00 C7 41 54 20 00 00 00 C7 86 24 02 00 00 40 06 00 00 C7 86 28 02 00 00 84 03

Thanks a lot. It works perfect. I had a problem with the fmv at the beginning when i started a new game but fixed it by going to the games directory and deleting the "config.cfg" file and running the "gmconfig.exe" and just configured my settings again. When finished, it creates another "config.cfg" and i right clicked it and checked the "read only" box and it fixed my fmv videos. I'm running windows xp x32 btw. Thanks a lot.

Post by renejr902 »

finally i prefer to play with 1400 x 1050 in my HDTV. 1080p has strange problems, it seem to be a hdtv problem.

but i tried a few games in 1400 x 1050 and it work great. the screen is centered and not streched and no overscan like 1080p

So if you can give me the Hex value for 1400 x 1050 i will use it

THANKS A MILLION !! have a great new year

I'm trying to set this up for 1920x1080 but it wont let me open "grandia2.exe" and for "gmconfig.exe" I can't find any of the numbers mentioned when using CTRL+F.

So what number should I look for if it's not 20 03 00 00 or 80 07 00 00? And am I supposed to open "grandia2.exe" or "gmconfig.exe"?

Hello there, I have been unable to find those hex values. My version of the game is installed from retail and I have scoured the exe file for the specified HEX values, but to no avail. Mind if I attach to my exe file, and maybe you folks could help me find out what to change, to what values and where?

EDIT : Nevermind, I found that those hex values are only found in the Fixed version of the EXE. Solved for me.

Well, Grandia II Anniversary Edition was released today with, unfortunately, no native widescreen support :( Maybe someone smarter than myself will play around with this new release and provide what GameArts/GungHo wouldn't ;)
