Hey guys. I am new to the whole multi monitor gaming thing and could really use some help with selecting monitors.

Currently I am looking at the Dell U2412M or the ASUS VW246H. I am basically trying to stay around $1000.

Any feedback/help? I want to make sure I am getting a decent setup and not just wasting my money and I am not set on either of those monitors, so please let me know if you have better options. I do want to get at least 24".

BTW, my setup is a I7-950, 12 GB of ram, and GTX 480 x2.

I would go with the Dell U2412M. It's one of the best IPS monitors for gaming with a 1920x1200 resolution.

The Dell U2412M is an IPS monitor, so it will give you better color and viewing angles. It also comes with height and swivel adjustable stands, and thinner bezels on the top and bottom, so you could rotate the monitors into portrait for a 3600x1920 resolution (15x8) as well as landscape 5760x1200 (24x5). It also have very low input lag (~10ms), which is better than most monitors (avg 14-25). It also has DisplayPort. However, you may notice some ghosting, if you're particularly sensitive to it.

The Asus VW246H is a TN panel, so it'll will have less ghosting, but suffer from worse color reproduction, and poor viewing angles. You'd need to replace the stand to put them in portrait, and then you'd have to deal with half of the right screen being too dark. No DisplayPort either.

If I was buying monitors for multi monitor gaming right now, I would go with the U2412M for the better color, viewing angles, ergonomic adjustments, Displayport, and ability to switch to Portrait.

Awesome, thank you for the reply.

I ordered the Dells last month when they were on sale, but getting a bit bored waiting for them. I am glad to hear that they will work well for this setup since I couldn't find much info on people with the U2412M for a 3 monitor setup.

Should my setup be good enough for running things like WoW, SWTOR, Skyrim, Witcher, etc? I know nVidia surround isn't normally as good as eyefinity for most of those games, but I got the video cards for free so I can't really be too picky!

Grats on getting the monitors. I missed the sale by 2 days :(

Two GTX 480s should be plenty for those games. The cards are very powerful (albeit loud), and should be able to handle just about anything you throw at them.
