Post by Abram »

Well i got ti and it runs well enough.

There's a display.ini in teh install root folder that allows a bit of custom tweaking. Not a lto, but you can disable Motion Blur independant of other options. Yay.

Also:

Code: Select all

   # Toggles whether cutscenes are letter-boxed in the center monitor or
   # expand to fill all monitors in Eyefinity mode.
   LetterboxEyefinity = false

Contrary to teh name, I assume it'll also work the Nvidia surround.

Also, does anyone else run it in 5.1 audio? Mine works, but car sounds are REALLY quiet. Sounds fine in Stereo.

Post by EvilEngineer »

Anyone found an option to adjust the hud? I'm running 3x 19" monitors with 1280x 1024 resolution combined for 3840x1024 normally and 3920x1024 with bezel correction.

The game regardless if bezel correction is on or not it chops the sides off the hud so that it doesn't exceed the center monitor. I've looked through the games display.ini but didn't find anything to help with the hud offset.

^same problem here.
its pretty bad, the mini map n such are cut pretty horribly. its missing like 30% of it, for me its far worse than bezel correction as i have stripped bezels so i should be able to see a good chunk of the map on the left monitor but instead i just see a tiny outline of it.
i dont even have a bezel corrected custom res setup at the moment. so i only have 3840x1024 as an option.

Using NVIDIA Surround, 6056x1080 (5760x1080 with bezel management), the game displays the HUD centered just fine for me. It doesn't spill over to the other screens or get cut off.

It's probably the aspect ratio.
16:9 scaled up seems to be fine across multi-monitors.
5:4 scaled up seems to be chopping things off.

Post by ugzz »

yeah it seems like it, i wonder if there might be a way to force the game to run at the 3840 res but somehow use the standard aspect ration instead of forcing a wide aspect.

the menus and hud are the least of the worries.
Game is pretty much unplayable in a 4:3 ultra wide setup. It cuts off your mission info.

a good example is very near the start of the game you have a mission that is to "protect the helicopters" but all you can read it "he helicopters" i think i shot them down and failed the mission about 3 or 4 times before i realize thats not what i was supposed to do. I switched to a single monitor so i could read it, then switched back.

Also the map will span onto the left monitor, but the crazy thing is only map markers will span, not the streets, circle outline, and not the dotted line trail that shows you how to get there, looks like enemies, friendlys and such don't show up either. so weird that a destination marker still will though

heres a couple examples

hmm. the max linkable size for webshots is 600 pixels. that doenst exactly cut it for ultra wides :P
well you can still see if you zoom in on em a bit, course it gets pixely but you can still see what i mean

Ok, so i figured something

Post by ugzz »

Ok, so i figured something out and it seems to work with 100% consistency!!
This is for those of us with 4:3 screens.
You have to be in the Main Menu for this, so quit to main menu or fire up the game. Select Standard resolution (not widescreen). Then select the resolution that is your native single monitor resolution. In my case, this is 1280x1024. Make sure its on Fullscreen, and apply the changes. Now that the changes are applied and you are in a single monitor res 4:3 setup, NOW change to widescreen and select your full ultra wide res, for me this is 3840x1024. Now the hud, menus, and all game text should be centered. ENJOY!!

I have changed res to break it and tried this multiple times including quitting and restarting, seems to work 100% of the time for me.

Post by EvilEngineer »

Found a memory address to modify the Y scale of the hud. Shrinks it a little and centers it on the screen... but it's all visible.

Address: 06178E58

I changed the value from 1024 to 768 and the hud is all visible now.

Now to find the vertical offset so I can push it down =/

Post by ugzz »

havnt tried it portrait, but i have to say playing on a 4:3 monitor is even has the hud oddly distracting. think about it, with each decrease of pixel width the map circle and the weapon circle get closer together. currently on my 4:3 setup they are inside of 1280 pixels as opposed to the 1920 of those with 1080/1200 monitors. thats a huge drop.
even playing with a centered hud the map or ammo display gets in front of my character pretty much every time i am running sideways or moving the camera around, its kind of annoying really. esp if i want to take a few screen grabs and rotate the camera to see my characters face.

i think dropping yet more pixels down would really make it that much worse. just my opinion anyway.
i wouldnt be surprised if it did work using the method i posted in the video though,
give it a shot and let us know

Post by pox67 »

I don't have a surround setup yet.

I need an extra GTX 580 and bigger PSU, also 2 more Dell U2312 when they next go on sale.

U2312's in portrait is the setup I am aiming for but won't be for a while yet.

Post by ugzz »

ive just about finished the game, but i had so much fun im actually fully planning on taking anther run through.
i gotta say i really love the voice acting too. its pretty solid all around, but the first choice female voice has a really stand out actress.

and as far as widescreen goes, i think this game has less of the wide fov stretch than ive seen in a game yet. even what characters are all the way at the far corner of a side screen they arent "that" much fatter or wider. there is some stretch sure, but its really not drastic at all. Looks amazing

Post by ugzz »

im half way thought playthrough 2, also doing another playthrough with a friend via co-op mode.

i wish there was a higher level cap, more stuff, and more game. but a couple new DLC packs that add gameplay and another island are on the way ;)

i think i partially love it even more simply because it works so perfectly in 3x1 out of the box

Post by ViciousXUSMC »

Yeah 3x1 works great, even centered HUD!

I have to play medium for good frames w/ a 5870 CF setup. GPU load in the 50-60% range but I had 50+fps and 99% gpu load before so something got messed up I think.

Recording games drops me to 15fps though so hard to record in eyefinity, playing single screen on Ultra has been fine for recording.
