Core 2 Duo Impact on TH2G

Post by Tucson »

As I wait paitently for my upgrade cycle to renew itself, I was curious of other TH2G user's results when upgrading to a Core 2 Duo system.

Honestly I think I may just sell a bunch of stuff and get it over with. Just with the 6600 was closer to $200 or even $250.

Has anyone upgraded yet?

No impact at all, wait for new G80 or R600 cards.

For standard gaming the minimum FPS will raise but has no impact on average/max fps.

I'm going to soon, probably a conroe E6300 unless 6600 comes down in price. spend the extra $120 on a graphic card.

Also waiting for my TH2G from Studica.

I'll wait for a 590 Intel Edition SLI motherboard before making the move to an E6600. (I'll then decide between Quad SLI or 7900GTX or next generation?)

There's a hack BIOS to have SLI on current 965 board but it's not my preferred way.

I just called Studica, they'll be getting them this week and expect I'll get it by Tuesday (3 day shipping).

As far as chipsets go, I was also hoping to use SLI with the 965 chipset. Apparently its not going to happen. Would a 7950GX2 even work?

Thanks for the ETA info from Studica :D .

It seems the Mod drivers for SLI on 965 does not support 7950GX2.

For the moment, Quad SLI with Core Duo, should be with nForce5xx only.
Hopefully they will be available soon.
