Cannot get Eyefinity to work past 3 monitors
I have been attempting to get this problem resolved off and on for quite some time now. Recently I upgraded 2 of my monitors so that all of them are displayport monitors. I have 4 x NEC EA231WMi and 2 x NEC E231W. They are all connected directly via mini-DP to DP cables (no adapters are used). These are simply single cables running directly from the video card to the monitor.
Yet, I can only get up to 3 monitors to run in Eyefinity. I have been successful in getting Eyefinity to run in 3x1 configs on either the upper or lower rows (I have the monitors setup in a 3x2) array.
I need assistance in getting all 6 screens running in a 3x2 config. I am at such a loss of how to get this to work. Nothing I have tried in the past seems to have worked. I have tried the 10.10 drivers and the most recent 11.6 drivers. No luck! Every time I try to setup a 3x2 setup I see either nothing happen, or the display will change to a different monitor, but with nothing else changed.
Is it possible that the cables are bad? Tell me if these are not correct: I have 3 x 6ft 32AWG DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort Cable - White (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246&cs_id=1024606&p_id=6007&seq=1&format=2) and 3 x 10FT 32AWG DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort Cable (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246&cs_id=1024606&p_id=6008&seq=1&format=2). Are they too long? Or are the specs just wrong? If so, what do I need?

Hi, for what you are asking to do is only avaiable with the ATI 5870 E6 2GB graphics card.
You have listed a lot of info, but have missed the crucial item, the gfx card, so could you please confirm what gfx card you are using?

That is the card I am using. Sorry, I was pretty tired when I posted.

Re: Cannot get Eyefinity to work past 3 monitors
When you go from 3x1 on the upper and lower rows, do you switch cables or ports on the card?
If I can borrow 3 more monitors from somewhere, I can try doing the setup on my 5870 E6.

No, I do not change any cables or ports. I just go thru the Control Center software.

Re: Cannot get Eyefinity to work past 3 monitors
I can't get any monitors to try myself. :(
Did this problem happen pre-6 display port monitors in your setup?
I wonder (if you have the adapter) if you tried with a VGA connection if it would work, just as a test. That is all I can really think of right now. Just shooting out ideas. =/

Before creating the group, clone all 6 displays then make the group.

I thought I knew how to setup a group, but what do you mean by " clone all 6 displays"?

Re: Cannot get Eyefinity to work past 3 monitors
1. Connect all 6 displays.
2. Disable Eyefinity (BTW 11.6 Drivers Seem to work very well)
3. Go to Desktop Management
--Creating and Arranging Desktops
4. Under "Please select a display." Right click each monitor and hit duplicate. (All monitors should now be displaying the same image.)
5. Then go to AMD Eyefinity Multi-Diplay
--Create Eyefinity Display Group.
6. Setup a 3x2 and off you go.

Re: Cannot get Eyefinity to work past 3 monitors
I was unable to clone all 6 displays so I could not make a group. Every attempt at cloning got me to 5 and usually 4 displays that were cloned before problems arose. Problems such as the display making no changes or reverting to a single display enabled. This happened when I had all 6 monitors directly connected with mini-DP to DP cables and it also happened with 4 monitors connected with mini-DP to DP cables, and 1 with a mini-DP to DVI adapter (supplied by MSI with the card) connecting a DVI cable to one monitor, and a mini-DP to DP adapter (supplied by MSI with the card) connecting to a DP cable. Not sure how to proceed from here.

Can you RMA the Card?

Not sure. I bought it in April 2010.
Re: Cannot get Eyefinity to work past 3 monitors
This might be a long shot, however I could try making a custom profile by hand.
Can you make a 3x1 group with the top monitos, save this as a profile lalbeled top, and then do the same again for the bottom 3 and label it bottom.
Once you have these 3 profiles saved, can you please post them here so that I may try and build you a 3x2 monitor config by hand?
You can find the profiles saved at... C:UsersAppDataLocalATIACEtop.xml and bottom.xml

Does it initially see all six monitors plugged into the card?

Yes, in normal Windows I can see all 6 with them extended. I run into problems when I try to enter an Eyefinity mode over 4 monitors.

OK, the saga continues... At this point I cannot even open the CCC. It just sputters like it is opening, then nothing happens. I followed the instructions AMD provided me to remedy this to the letter. After re-installing the 11.6 drivers I was still unable to open the CCC!! I spoke to MSI re: an RMA but they want me to send the card to them with no assurances of when they can get a replacement to me. I have asked for a supervisor to call me back since I do not want to be out a card I paid over $500 for, making my computer useless for at least ~ 3 weeks. I need these monitors running for my job. This is very discouraging. I am considering switching to NVidia for my graphics needs and Intel for my CPU's in the future after the huge runaround I have been getting for over half a year with this problem.
This is getting ridiculous!

Re: Cannot get Eyefinity to work past 3 monitors
Have you done a good driversweep before installing the new drivers?
Because left over bits from old drivers could be affecting the newly installed ones.
Get driver sweeper and use it in normal boot than in safe mode. Then try installing the new drivers and follow what I said to do earlier.

From what I can see, they are identical. Is that normal? I double-checked that I didn't post the same one twice.
Re: Cannot get Eyefinity to work past 3 monitors
I have this exact same problem you describe in the original post. I posted here
http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=405&threadid=150533&enterthread=y
I could get any combination of 3 or 4 monitors to work, just never all 6. I had a diamond 5870 eyefinity edition at first , then i got a an asus 6970 that works with eyefinity 6 here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121430
I reinstalled windows 7-64 with the new card and still had same problem.
I tried about 12 different cables from monoprice as well as cables that came with the monitors themselves and nothing worked.
I don't know if its a cable problem or a problem with displayports on these NEC monitors.
The only way I could get all 6 to work was to buy all sapphire active displayport to dvi adapters and use only dvi cables. It worked first try after that. It defeats the purpose of having a displayport capable monitor but its the only way I could get it to work.
