GTX 680 Supports PLP?

Post by boxrick »

I read on some other discussion boards that the new GTX 680 supports PLP ( Portrait / Landscape / Portrait ) configurations, is there any truth to this?

If so then a GTX680 is shortly going to be making its way to me!

It supports it as much as any other card that can have 3 monitors hooked up to it.
You can setup 3 separate desktops (1 for each monitor). But you still cant have them setup in an SLS mode (Where you get an in game resolution of 4960x1600).
You still have to use SoftTH, which limits you to DirectX 9.

At the moment, PLP support is the same across all video card venders. PLP SLS would be something I'd like to see, but I just don't see it happening.

When SoftTH get's DX 10/11 support, most people will be happy. The only real drawbacks to SoftTH is no crossfire / SLI capability, some games see it as a cheat (i.e. BFBC2) so you cant go online with it, a negligible performance hit, and some game compatibility.
EDIT: Also, as I said before, no DX 10/11 support either.
