No :) We have developed our own engine based on OpenGL for The Red Solstice, this will enable us to port to various platforms.

We haven't planned any support for that atm. :)

Oooo... For some reason I am liking more and more the sound of independent developers. :hide
Professional... well I'll figure that out.

wondering why you would then post on a site dedicated to such things. Looks really good, but as an ultrawide screen gamer disappointed with the limitations.

I find myself also questioning that, but... hey. Who am I to question?

Thing is, I don't worry about it too much unless a dev comes out with the "it's cheating/unfair" line. Until I read something like that, I work on the idea that the dev is open to suggestions and willing to try it if possible. ;)

Playing Red Solstice with ultrawide screens would be much more enjoyment just because it would be smoother to play, no it wouldn't be cheating, it would be just more fun :)

I said we haven't planned any support for it because i don't wanna promise something i am not 100% sure we will implement. When and if we will be sure we will invest time in testing it we will do it.

You have to understand we are a new indie team working hard, but our resources are limited and there is so much left to do, and so far we have cut some things we didn't want but we had to :) We want a beatifull game that feels RIGHT, game you wanna play every day for that year, game that never bores you, game you keep coming back at.

In 26h, another update will arrive! Story, items check it out, i hope you will like it. :)

Support for ultra widescreen should be fairly trivial. Just depends how well your graphics coders implemented resolution and aspect ratio/field of view support.

If they did it the 'correct' way it should work out of the box with no problems. :)

(Correct being obtaining a list of usable resolutions from windows with no discrimination. And locking the vertical FOV so that the horizontal FOV expands with the aspect ratio, likely dynamically.)

I have asked about this and i have been informed that everything has been done correctly, but we don't have resources to test that atm.
By resources i mean aditional LCDs:)

When we test it, i'll come back with information and share it with you!

Another update is on the site, check it out! :p

While I do hope a blessing of additional LCDs finds its way to you, another means of testing would be trying various resolutions in windowed mode (assuming your engine supports windowing). There is also FauxTH2Go.

Thanks for engaging us in your development process. Many companies have forgotten that a dialogue with their customers amounts to more than spamming press releases. It's refreshing to see indies swimming against that tide. :onethumb
