Hi, I've gone the passive DP to VGA route with a 5770 card, all working fine for months now.

Can someone enlighten me how you achieve the same setup if I buy a 6000 series card at some point, I notice they use miniDP ports instead of the standard DP port.

My monitors have DVI and VGA ports only.

Does the same trick work if I adapt my DP passive adapter to miniDP and then connect it to the VGA port on the 3rd monitor????

Some cards has miniDP to DP adapters included, like this one SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6870.
Also some manufacturers will use standard DP port instead of miniDP on non-reference cards.

(Waiting for 69XX with more than 1GB of memory)

You can either use a mini-dp to vga adator which in fact all vga adaptors are active, or use a mini-dp to dp adaptor.
