Surround in games and just one monitor in desktop

Hi,

Is there a way to make the desktop works in a tri monitor setup as just was one´s have just the middle monitor ei start menu, tray and clock, icons, apps opening just in the middle screen?
I see once one threat here that a guy could do this but i don´t remember the title.

set windows res to your native res for 1 lcd and use the bigger res in games

Unfortunately i sold one of my 3 monitors so i can´t try that now, but if is possible is very good.
