MAFIA II - Full Game Eyefinity

Post by Dyre Straits »

I downloaded the full version from Steam last night and played for a couple of hours. Am enjoying the game and the story development a lot.

At first I had a problem with FRAPS not working. Eventually, a restart of my PC fixed that. So, I now have a few 3x1 Eyefinity images uploaded to an album....

Due to using an ATI card, I opted to NOT enable Physx.

I notice that you have a nice and centered HUD. Did you have to do anything to get this? As you can see from the image below, I have my minimap all the way to the right and my ammo all the way to the left. I've tried switching between 5760x1080 and my slightly larger bezel compensated resolution. This did not trigger a change in the HUD.

Also, has anyone managed to get crossfire working while using three monitors in portrait mode? It works for me in Dirt 2, but not in this game.

Btw: I'm using Cat 10.8.

All indications I've heard show that Mafia II has a centered HUD out of the box, and I can confirm that my whole way through my steam version, I had a centered HUD natively.

Yeah, I haven’t actually seen anyone else with this problem. I saw someone mentioning that one should select 3x1920x1080 as opposed to 5760x1080 (or 6###x1080 with bezel compensation). I can’t remember seeing this option, but I’ll look for it this weekend if I get my replacement monitor after I had to RMA one of them.

Also, I can't rule out the DP-DVI adapter as the reason for this problem (I blame it for just about anything that goes wrong in my life). When my replacement monitor arrives, I’ll have a nice DP-VGA adapter waiting for it.

You're not alone, I had the same issue with not being able to select my 3x resolution. The resolution was listed as 5760x1080 only. Have a look to see if lower resolutions are supported. For me, 3x 1280x720 (BC) [3960x720] was available as the highest 3x resolution. I've no idea why it doesn't list higher resolutions in the same way.

The HUD problem is small compared to the cutscene problem, which renders zoomed in about 200% and flipped upside down! :( Check my post here.

Ah, I had that too. Even one of the intro clips when I started the game was upside down. I never gave it much thought and completed the game with a single screen. I’m going to have to get rid of these problems if I’m to buy the expansion pack.

I figured this out when I was benchmarking, at least the 5760x1080 vs. 3x1920x1080. It gives one if you have a multi-GPU setup and the other on a single. I can't remember which, but I bet you can match the res option with an NVIDIA surround setup and know for sure.
