Prey Resolution Question

Post by Nugzy »

I love the Prey demo. I have a 2005FPW Dell Monitor. It is 1680x1050, which I believe is 16:10. I want to keep a good framerate, so I want to go down to the next proper resolution, something like 12**x***. I want to make sure Im using the correct resolution so nothing is out of proportion.

a. What is the resoltuion Im looking for?
b. How do I get that resolution?
c. What do I set the in game aspect ration option to?

I tried editing the config file per the Doom 3 instructions, but when I start the game it reverts back to 640x480.

Any help is much appreciated.

You can find different res and aspect ratios here: [url]http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/]

1440*900 16:10
1280*800 16:10

If you follow all the instructions to alter doom3 you shouldn't have any problem. Can you post what you have tried? maybe you missed a command.

This is from my cfg file.

seta r_customHeight "800"
seta r_customWidth "1280"
seta r_fullscreen "1"
seta r_displayRefresh "0"
seta r_mode "7"
seta r_multiSamples "0"

seta r_mode always reverts back to 7. I change it per the Doom instructions, and when I view the cfg file its back to 7.

Check this thread:

[url]http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/]

Then make sure these lines are changed in your config ...

seta r_customHeight "1050"
seta r_customWidth "1680"
seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_aspectRatio "2"

If the config keeps changing back then you must run the ...
"Scan Hardware and Select Optimal Video Quality" in the games display setup and exit the game ...
go back into the game and play a bit ... exit ...
THEN do the changes to the config.

There's no need for the FOV change as the ... seta r_aspectRatio "2" sorts out the correct view for you and the config file deletes the FOV entries anyway.
If you really really feel that you want to alter the FOV you can do this by adding the seta g_fov "100" (or any other value) to the target in the Doom3 desktop shortcut properties...

".... Doom 3Doom3.exe" seta g_fov "100"

Hope this helps ...

You get the same effect if your monitor has a fill option in the aspect settings, like my Dell:

1:1
FILL
ASPECT

As long as you select the right aspect ratio in the Prey video options you get the same display as you would if you edited the config file!
