Yes, I haven't been able to figure it out either.... :(
no .cfg or .ini files look useful. Also looked through registry, didn't find anything there either. Looks like you need a hacked .exe like for the 1st NFSU?

EA does not believe in widescreen for PC (at least not in their sports nor racing division)

I just posted a patch for this game here in the Wogg's collection thread as it uses Wogg's UniWS patcher.

It does require a cracked EXE but it works perfectly :)

Heh. I doubt you'll notice the few jaggies when you're racing round the track at 100+MPH. ;)

sorry, im only running a 9600 pro - i usually dont AA anything. i tried it at 4x - too slow. i dropped to about 18-20 fps. got a solid 30-40 fps with 2x though.

this is 1280x768 - everything on high except motion blur.

quick note:

installed the v1.1 patch, and got the 1.1 no-cd'd .exe - and no more widescreen.

I applied the patch to the new fixed exe - and it loaded the game up, and my 640x480 was actually a iny little square on the center of my monitor.

tried 3 different exe's actually, none seemed to work.

now when i run a race, it's like having tunnelvision. BLAH!

Hmmm that's odd. I just installed the 1.1 update and the 1.1 NoCD, patched with UniWS and it appears to work fine.

It may be possible that the UniWS undo data from the 1.0 EXE is conflicting with the 1.1 EXE. I'd suggest removing speed2.undo from your NFSU2 folder, reinstalling the 1.1 NoCD EXE, and try patching with UniWS again.

Hello. I have a related question. I downloaded the universal widescreen patch and the updated patches.ini to include NFSU2 info.....but when i run the universal widescreen patch, after i select the game directory, the box that tells me to enter the new resolution wont allow me to type anything. And what does it mean that "Patches any game version, but only works on a cracked SPEED2.EXE?"

Thanks

You'll need a No-CD 'fixed' SPEED2.EXE ... you can grab one from here. The reason for this is the original EXE is compressed and/or encrypted which makes it impossible to patch. The No-CD fixed EXE is decompressed/decrypted which means it can be patched.

Hi everybody!

That's my first post and I log in to say a big thank you to Mird-Oc and wogg! NFSU2 in Widescreen is amazing!!

I don't know why but the only 16:10 resolution that I can use without crashing the game are 640*400 and 1920*1200.
Well i tend to prefer the last one! 8)

On my new 23 inch display the game looks absolutely gorgeous! The only problem is that the 9800 pro is pushed hard at that resolution and I have to limit a few eye candy (like AA) to play it smoothly. But I can live with that!! :D

Again thank you!!

have you tried 1280x768 or 1280x800?

1280x768 worked for me on the original retail - but when i updated to 1.1 it just displayed at 640x480. my native rez is 1280x768 ...
