Can't launch Psychonauts in Portrait Surround
Can't launch Psychonauts in Portrait Surround
I see that this game works in triple head, so I bought it on Steam. (Perfect game for summer vacation!) Unfortunately, I'm running nVidia Surround in portrait mode (3840x1920). I can't get the game to launch at all. It just gives an error that says my display doesn't support the minimum resolution of 640x480x32bpp. I checked my list of "supported resolutions" and sure enough I have no 4x3, 16x9 or 16x10 landscape resolutions. How do I get the game to launch?!
Re: Can't launch Psychonauts in Portrait Surround
Well, my solution has been to temporarily dismantle my Surround setup and use my old 30" monitor. Not very convenient, but I get to play my game.
Does this seem like a problem nVidia will be able to (or will be bothered to) fix with drivers in the future? i.e., expanded games support for weirdos who run Surround in portrait mode....

I don't know what to tell you - only that you might want to give SoftTH a try without Nvidia Surround (worked for me with Psychonauts in surround).
My screenshots in the DR thread with that method :D.

Re: Can't launch Psychonauts in Portrait Surround
I got the Nvidia Surround to work with this game in portrait mode.
For a long time (1 year) I had the same issue.
I had to create a "displaysettings.ini" file in the same directory as the "Psychonauts.exe"
You might want to edit the settings to fit your screen resolution.
This is what the file contained:
[DisplaySettings]
ScreenWidth=3240
ScreenHeight=1920
FullScreen=true
VSync=true
FSAA=true
FSFX=true
AdvancedShading=true
Shadows=true
GammaCorrection=1.000000
