Borderlands & eyenfinity in 1x3 portrait mode, so easy?

Post by masskaos »

I’ve got a new HD 5970 with 3 monitors working in Win7 with eyenfinity. I’m running the latest video drivers 10.6. I’m still addicted to borderlands(yeah, some consider it a character flaw) and can run the game in landscape mode fine all be it a little on the stretchy side but that is the game’s issue not the card or drivers. My problem is when I try to run in portrait mode the game just hangs at random points during loading. I've tried different desktop resolutions to no success. I can run regular windows apps like office and such in 1×3 portrait fine. Just not borderlands unfortunately!

This article has several pictures of borderlands running in portrait view with 3 monitors using eyenfinity.

And before you ask, I didn't write the author because he mentioned he had help for 2 AMD guys setting things up and from things that he said in the article I didn't get the feeling he would pay much attention to the details of how they got things working.

If this is bonehead simple, then great because I'm a bonehead and thus should be able to get this to work.

Same issue here. A bit back using the 10.3 or 10.4 drivers it was fine. But the 10.7 drivers are doing the same for me, complete lockup during load. If anyone has any suggestions for use with the most current drivers would love some help.

Thanks!

Borderlands should work in 3x1 portrait mode just fine, but landscape just isnt going to happen.

Yes, I finally got this to work. I found that Catalyst 10.5 and drivers are stable and don't crash borderlands in 3x1 portrait mode @ 3600x1920 resolution. Unfortunately, from my experience this same configuration on my computer using Catalyst 10.8 crashes Borderlands during startup. It seems they had the right formula in 10.5 but lost it with 10.8. Oh well, I'm content to have everything run under 10.5 :D
