Triplehead2go and nvidia surround
Triplehead2go and nvidia surround
So.... anyone want Matrox to either update or release a version that supports 120 hz?
I don't know if it would be possible with the unit, but gawd it'd save some grief.

Re: Triplehead2go and nvidia surround
You CANNOT do 120Hz on the TH2Go because the bandwidth available on Duel link DVI is too small. The highest usable resolution you can have at 120HZ is 1080p over Duel link.

So..... what if one was to purchase another dual link dvi cable? to run from the box to the video card....
I already have the three 120hz monitors.

I'd say buy 2 nVidia cards and run surround with there solution. GTX 260 and above I believe is the stipulation.
The drivers I believe are coming this month, check over in that forum up here.
Unless you are alright with using the TH2Go at 59Hz (A far cry from 120Hz).

Re: Triplehead2go and nvidia surround
Hi,
our Mviewer device can support 120Hz.Because of bandwidth of dual link DVI,our device can support 2048x768 120HZ or 3072X768 120Hz.
Best Regards!

Re: Triplehead2go and nvidia surround
I guess I wasn't clear enough. I have two 470s in sli. I have three samsung 2233rz 120hz monitors. I have three dual link dvi cables running from my triplehead2go to my monitors. I have one plain jane dvi cable (that came with the triplehead2go) running to one of my 470's. They are running 5040x1050. I wonder if the triplehead2go would support 120 hz IF I had a) another dual link DVI cable running to the 470 and b) if the software to run matrox's triplehead2go could be updated to support 120hz.
Is it the dvi cable that is the limiting factor, or is in the triplehead2go. If it is the triplehead2go, is it a hardware limitation, or a software limitation?
I really really hope that clears everything up.

Re: Triplehead2go and nvidia surround
It's a hardware limitation. Duel Link DVI cant support it. A Duel Link DVI cable comes with the TH2Go or else you wouldn't be able to get 5040x1050.
You will be able to get 5760x1080 @ 120Hz if you use nVidia Surround. Just wait till the drivers come out mate. Yeah, the TH2Go just cant do 120Hz, not even the DP1.1 edition can.

Re: Triplehead2go and nvidia surround
Ah. That's a shame. Thanks for the informed reply! :)
I was really hoping to get the benefits of both.
It seems we will lose something via nvidia surround - the driver will not utilize SLI, and no matter how you break it down, I can't see how two video cards will be able to render three screens unless somehow the cards render 1.5 screens each.
Otherwise ONE of them has to render two screens - and that will mean major performance issues. :(
But I'm still waiting for drivers..... like everyone else.

Re: Triplehead2go and nvidia surround
Actually, they could use SLI to render the who screen (Meaning 2 cards render 1 whole screen), then split it in Software and route the images to the outputs, which is more likely how it's done, then having it render 2 and 1, the asymmetricness of that would just not work at all.
