Alpha Protocol - Not Multi monitor

Post by StAnToN »

Hi Guys

Just had my copy of Alpha Protocol turn up and unforuntly it doesnt work with eyefinity and also dont konw if it works with any other multi monitor setups.

For some reson it will span to all three monitors but has prlbmes with in game menus being stuck to the main middle monitor.

As usual its been built from the unreal engine.

Ive put a post up in the alpha protocol forms hopefully a dev will get back about it - http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?t=328675

If anyone was wondering how to window the game, open the following in a text editor:

Code: Select all

C:Users<user>DocumentsAlpha ProtocolAPGameConfigAPEngine.ini

Search for:

Code: Select all

Fullscreen=True

Change to:

Code: Select all

Fullscreen=False

The resolution toggles are also located here, about 10 lines below the fullscreen toggle

Code: Select all

ResX=1600

   ResY=900

Insert whatever numbers you want there.

I've played it through a few missions now and with nothing but Eyefinity working in a 3x1 setup. Updated the post I made with links to screen shots...as asked for.

Thanks... but these could very well be Vert- :? Could you be so kind as to add a single-screen vs. Eyefinity comparison ? :oops:

I'll have to wait until I get home from work in a few hours to provide additional screen shots.

But, just to make something clear: The menu options and mini-games are all confined to the center screen...without stretching across all three screens out of aspect. Once back into the action, all screens become active again.

EDIT to add screen shots:

Single Screen: 1920x1080

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4628/apgame2010060403151082.jpg

Eyefinity Screen: 6024x1080

http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/4121/apgame2010060403415351.jpg

People can believe me or not. I could provide more but, I'd really rather be playing the game than trying to prove that it works on my system.

If you're having problems, go into SEGA/Alpha Protocol/APGame/Config/DefaultEngine.ini and setup your Eyefinity resolution to start up. I had to do that after reducing the screen to one screen only for this post. As it was, I installed the game with Eyefinity already in effect and the game automatically recognized it and away I went.

EDIT 2: Before you ask, here's a screen shot showing a menu item:

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/8316/apgame2010060406531966.jpg

I have to emphasize that, on my system, ALL of the menus, Inventory, Computer Hacking/Lock Picking, etc., show up completely on the CENTER screen just a though I was playing it on a single screen. There's NOTHING missing.

Eyefinity users do have strange issues sometimes... Some have pillarboxed gameplay in Assassin's Creed 2 (patched), I've seen screenies of Dirt2 stretched... :?

Anyway, thanks Dyre for the pictures. Multi-mon is definitely not strictly Hor+ compared to 16:9.

The only thing different that I'm aware of [between my version and the others] is that I got mine via Digital Download from GameStop. Their vendor is TryMedia. Whether TryMedia did any kind of patching to the game prior to making it available, I have no way of knowing. What I DO know, though, is that they have given me notice that I am NOT to use any general patch for this version of the game as the general patches may possibly cause my game to not work. So, any patches for the game, I have to get directly from TryMedia.

Well that's less-bad than other UE Vert- cases, but still far less than ideal. I bet a fov tweak would correct things nicely, as the game already supports surround resolutions natively. *sigh*, Epic could make a HUGE contribution to widescreen/surround gaming with a few changes to their engine. Since pc gamers are officially not their core audience anymore I guess that is wishful thinking.

If anyone spots a demo for AP drop a link here.

Hi

When i tried it while the game was fine on all three monitors any of the mini games or in game menus were all stuck to the middle screen and it wouldnt pick my mouse up at all and couldnt do any of the mini games.

Maybe they have released a further patch on the game since then as i havent loaded its back up to try again.

FWIW, Fry's has the game on sale for $39.99 USD. The AD appears in our local Friday paper and online.

I've done nothing special. It has worked "out of the box" for me since Day One.

Well ive tried everything reinstalling the game reinstalling my drivers deleting all the ini files adding bezel compensation to it nothing works.

Dyre Straits what is your set up what OS are you running 32bit or 64bit trying to narrow down what the problem might be with this, even if i try and run it in single monitor mode it squeezes the game up on the main middle monitor.

Just getting really frustated with this game now, and the fact that everythim i have to load it back up it wants the licence key again.

Alpha Protocol

Post by B3NJ1 »

The first time i played Alpha Protocol it worked fine @3600x1920. -Eyefinity-
But today when I try to play all the menus are out of sync or something. like the mouse pointer is all squashed and you cant click on things in the menu or trying to shut off an alarm is impossible because the mouse pointer is like clicking but its not really above where i want to click...
Does any of this make sense??
Pleeeease help
Cheers...
-B3NJ1

*Edit...

This is not a solution but I worked out what happened... The first time I played I was using xbox 360 controller. There was no need for mouse pointer.
However I would prefer to play this with keyboard and mouse and it wont let me do both :roll: (or does some clever cookie know a way to enable both?)

I updated my sig to show my current setup.

Just one further note for now: My monitors are set to 1920x1080 and are configured to support 1080p, FWIW.

Hmm... try to start the game in 5040x1050. If you still have no issues with the monitors, i'll hate you . :)
