ok, juuuust about to buy a 24", 1920x1200 monitor, thoughts?

currently got an HP W2207 22", 1680 x 1050 and want to make the final jump to 1920 x 1200.

i like the monitor, it's got a shiny screen, so i got it away from the windows, but the colour separation is really good.

what's my criteria?

gaming first, colour representation second (i do some web site development, but i am not a designer)..

let's see what your suggestions are!

What I got recently:
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pscmisc/vac/us/product_pdfs/ZR24w_data_sheet_120409.pdf

Cons:
Backlight not perfect.
Long time to switch between resolutions (long meaning 1 second or so - I usually don't get to see Windows' welcome screen for example).
No HDMI.
Manuals. Or lack thereof  (the paper ones anyway)

Pros:
Price (~€400)
IPS panel
Ergonomics
Design
DisplayPort
USB hub (1 in, 2 out)
Menu options, lots of them

Good enough for my gaming and photography needs. Spec sheet reports 12 ms on/off and 5 ms g/g.

Budget?

good question.

i hate wasting money, but i don't really have a problem with cost..

i'm thinking something up to around £350 would be acceptable..

Not much difference from 22" to 24" so save your money and get a bigger size in the future (30" :P).

i've decided to take a wild stab in the dark and get this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-2443BW-24-Inch-Monitor/dp/B001EX01YM

in the UK, by law you get 7 days cooling off period anyway, so as long as i test it thoroughly and send it back quick, IF i don't like it, there should be np..

but i'm thinking it should be ok, let's see..

532.28 U.S. dollars

Okay.

I'd recommend the U2410 based on your budget.

His budget of £350 wouldn't stretch to a U2410 in the UK - he's about £100 short.

Could go for a HP ZR24W though, IPS panel, displayport.

And you've got 14 days under the Distance Selling Act.
