If i was to buy three (same + dp port) 1680 x 1050 @ 75 Hz monitors, would i be able to run it at

5060 x 1050 @ 75 Hz (5850 1 dp, 2 dvi)?

No chance but maybe 5040 x 1050 :)

I'm guessing your monitor supports 75Hz but on a lower resolution ?
Can i ask you a question man, Are all 3 of your monitors same make ? What brand/model ?

I came across cheap (the only displayport ready) dell p2210's in my area, but remembered someone on here gave those up for a bigger non-TN panel, reason being that when the p2210's were in portrait the colors at the top area was shite.



I myself am anxious to get a Efefinity setup, but would only pursure if i'm able to get all my requirements straight.

I'm using 3 x Dell 2209WA E-IPS panels they look great in portrait and landscape but I have to use an active adapter for displayport.

The monitors support up to 76Hz at 1680 x 1050 but I had to perform an EDID override because although the driver allows each screen to be set separately at 76Hz. When an eyefinity group is made it locks the refresh rate at 60Hz. The way around it is to make a EDID driver with only 1 refresh rate option. Then the eyefinity group is locked at 76Hz.

Almost all LCD's are meant to run at 60Hz even though they give you an option for 75.. running at 75Hz on some monitors messes up the response time by screwing up the overdrive logic on the controller, and the monitors actually drop every 5th frame to resync back to 60Hz anyway.


Unless those monitors are specifically different.

Wow thanks for the replies, btw i looked up the specs on the 2209wa and no where on dell's site (canada, us,) do they say 76 Hz(it states 60Hz), but apparently driver support is there, hopefully that'll be the case for the p2210 i was eyeing =)

ANyways i've almost concluded my decision would be to get three standard 60 Hz monitors with dp port =(
reason being that the dp -> dvi adapter is $200 (sapphire) where i come from, and 75 Hz monitors (with dp port) prices are so ridiculous, they dont even exist ;P

It used to say 75Hz on the Dell site but I think they changed it because people were complaining because it didnt work on all graphics cards. They had also bundled them all with only a single link DVI cable that only allowed 73Hz :doh .

The panel itself is capable of 76Hz without dropping any frames. It also beats most TN panels on Input lag tests as shown in this interesting thread. http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1034028590.

There is a monitor called the E2209WA which uses a TN panel and seems to be indentical to the P2210 except it has no displayport. If you can find them at your dell store it might be cheaper to get two of them with your P2210 and they all look the same. Neither of these monitors can do 75Hz though so you will be stuck at 60hz.
