preserve aspect ratio

hi unfortunately i recently had to buy my first lcd screen, sadly it had to be wide screen

when i use 4:3 resolutions like 800x600 or 1024x768 it stretch the image and it looks all horrid.

is there anyway to keep the aspect ratio?

i have a benq g2222hdl and an nvidia graphics card

Have you tried to play in windowed mode ?

Use a DVI cable to connect your display to your computer, and find the option to maintain aspect ratio in your Nvidia Control Panel. I forget what it's called.. Or run it in a window.
