Sorry neosin,

but I didn't saw that this thread is named something like:
"will 'Birds of Pray' work with San's FOV Changer and will "Birds of Pray" released for PC?" - feel free to open your own thread...;)

Back to topic:

Please test it and feed back.

Regards
San

Tested it with IL2 1946 (4.08,AAA-Unifiedv1.1)in OpenGL / TH2GO digital@3840x1024 / Windows XP - .Net Framework 2.0/TrackIR4-6DOF

Works flawless without bugs for me.

Autoactivate and quicksearch option on (switched off the autozoom of the 6DOF mod)

Happily enjoying IL2 on a TH the first time!
Thank you San! :D

I have seen a strange bug in Windows Vista. It seens that my program can´t detect the primary ip. The new version I will upload after some more tests, in theory, fix it
But now you can do this easy process:

Open the fov changer pref.ini with notepad and write your local ip in the line between 1 and 1711 (in the example is 192.168.0.1). Save and test

Ok
The problem is that I got not Vista, so it is very difficult for me to fix an error that I don´t have. I have your feedback and other beta testers and this helps. When I get a Vista I try to fix the error

In v0.98 try to activate with the keys instead the buttons

I've got Vista 32, and Triplehead2go. Version 1.0 would not execute for me at all so I tried .98. The program opened fine, in game the setup and start seemed to work, but nothing happens when I use the increase or decrease fov keys. :(

Thanks San, no worries. I appreciate the efforts you have made.

In version .98, when I activate with the keys it makes the "beep" noise. But nothing else happens.

Hello San, I was very excited to learn about this FOV changer, however it doesn't work for me. I'm running IL2 Sturmovik 1946 on WinXP SP3 Professional and got .NET Framework 3.5 installed. I tried your latest v1.0.2 beta and when I attempt to run the .exe it crashes right away displaying the generic windows crash message (the one that asks whether you want to send the crash report to Microsoft or not). Does anybody around here has experimented a similar problem? I don't think it has anything to do with my hardware but just in case this is my rig: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz cpu, 3.24GB RAM & NVidia 9800GTX+ 512MB video card.

Next is a mod to move the HUD altitude and speed information etc out of the bezel and into the centre!

I'll post here if I find one.

This is fantastic. IL2 is one of the only games I usually play but I havent been able to use it on my th2go so I havent played it much lately.

It worked with no problems at all.

There is an issue but not related to your program. It seems when I get these large FOV's on my 3x24" I get problems when using trackir. It seems that parts of the engine dont move when you look around so it effectively blocks your view sometimes...

I guess this is a IL2 issue. I dont think it is on all planes though because my first go with a quick mission didnt have the problem. When I went on line and the plane choices were limited then I got the problem.

Thanks for the program though. I never thought of doing this back when I was sending commands to IL2 using devicelink for a cockpit.

Devicelink helps il2 fov changer to do its work but the process is more complicated.

Either I'm missing something or I'm completely out of luck. I'm trying to use FOVchanger for a single 16:10 widescreen monitor and so far I've tried v0.98, v1.0 and v1.0.2 to no avail. Here's what happens with each of them:

v0.98 installs and loads fine, I get thru the steps of "Prepare" and "Start" (I get the Roger, Roger message and the blinking keyboard lights) but when I press the shortcut key to increase FOV nothing happens. I can switch to the FOVchanger window and the message "increasing FOV" is displayed at the bottom status bar, but it stays like that forever. Same thing with the decrease FOV key. I find some of the instructions for this version a little confusing so I don't dismiss the possibility of me doing something wrong, anyway...

v1.0 loads OK. The instructions are pretty straighforward so I get to the step that tells me to "press Start Buton/key during the first flight, wait until FOV changes then press the other buttons, etc.". I press the start key, there's a beep and the NumBlock light on the keyboard turns on, but I wait and wait and the FOV never changes. It turns out that after the start key FOVchanger freezes completely. If I ALT+TAB to the FOVchanger window I can see that it has stopped responding completely so the only way to shut it down is terminating it by force.

v1.0.2 does not run at all, no splash screen, no app window, nothing. As soon as I double click on the .exe a Windows XP error message pops up saying "FOVchanger has encountered a problem and needs to close, blah, blah." and gives the option to send/don't send the error report to Microsoft.

So that's it. I have no idea what could be wrong, everybody else seems to be doing fine. My IP is right in the pref.ini file and I've tried disabling all my antivirus/malware/firewall software in the hopes that they would somehow be interfering with FOVchanger but everything keeps the same . Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Again, these are my specs:
SOFTWARE:
Windows XP SP3 Pro 32bits
.NET Framework v3.5
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 v4.07m (DVD release)
I run the game on OpenGL at 1680x1050 by means of a manually edited config.ini file. SaveAspect is set to 0.

HARDWARE:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz cpu
3.24 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX+ 512MB gpu
21.6" 1680x1050 Widescreen LCD monitor.

Did you get my email San? Anyway, just wanted to tell you that I finally got v0.98 to work, as I suspected I was doing some of the steps wrong. It's a little buggy but at least it does what I wanted, thanks a lot. It would be great if the newest versions wouldn't crash on me though.

:bowdown San, You ARE the Man! :bowdown

I have been waiting and hoping for a long time that someone could do what you have done.

see........

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/9425

Never would have thought the answer would have had anything to do with DeviceLink. I use DeviceLink for communication to my virtual gauges via a forth monitor. Was happy to see that DeviceLink can handle both my UDPSpeed gauges and your FOV Utility at the same time through the same port!

Am running Vista 64bit OS and your FOV utility is working very well for me.

When I switch back in forth from views, say cockpit view (F1) then to fly-by view (F3) and back again to cockpit , the cockpit FOV goes back to the old FOV. Then I have to re-activate the FOV again which can be an annoyance when trying to shake a zero off your six (haha)

But staying with one view with the correct FOV is better than switching views with the wrong FOV, if I can't work it out to have both.

:bowdown .........Thank You!........ :bowdown

I just have upload the new version (v.1.0.5.6 Beta)
The best innovation is the high speed activation/reactivation time (less than one second, some cockpits with only 200ms).

Download from:
http://il2fovchanger.byethost7.com/
For those who want to help. If you observe visual anomalies send me or post a debug tab screenshot and tell me the plane you were using

Hi guys, anyone using sans utility use the bomb sights?

It works perfectly for cockpit use but when I go to the bomb sight its rreally zoomed in. It seems hit and miss whether I can zoom in and out. Sometimes it works but sometimes it doesnt..?

Has anyone found a good method for this?

Hi San,

first of all a big thank you for your nice little programm!

It was easy to set up and works fine. Except that graphics glitch that I get:

I have an Asus ENGTX285. Is there any way to avoid this glitch?

Thanks a lot again!

Hi Tbag, there are a few isues like that in different planes.

I dont think there is anything that San can do about it. I dont think il2 ever expected such wide fov's so some cockpits have a few issiues.

The one I get which I dont like is on some planes as you lok around with trackir the motor stays in a fixed position. Hard to explain but a pita.

Hello,

I must be missing something fundamental here. Nothing happens at all for me.

My conf.ini is at the bottom

I have 1.0.5.8 installed - no errors.

I have it set to auto activate.

Here is my pref.ini

I hit the keys and it says its changing in the FOV changer, but nothing happens in-game - still stuck with the horrible zoomed FOV.

Can anyone advise, please?

Thanks!

Do you see a little fov out when you press the key? First, it must to fov from 70 to 90.
Make this test, press il2 fov key 30, and press my program start key
Don you see it pass to 70 and then to 90?
If not, check your ip settings

San's IL2 Fov Chager Release Candidate published

Updates:
- Joystick support. Axis support for absolute fov changes and button support for relative fov changes.
- Test config button to help people to config the program.
- Auto detects ip
- Now the program stores internally the mac, so you don´t have to change the ip if you have dynamic address.
- Watch fov, the program follows IL2 when it jumps before you need it.
- Very faster start (less than one second)
- Lot of new possible keys, but with joystick support who wants it!

Regards

Sans, this is truly great.

the best improvement for me is the zoom with a joystick axis. Because I have a seperate throttle I use the throttle axis on the stick to go in and out, it nice and smooth.

The biggest problem for me to date with this has been going to the bombsight view and having to constantly resize it. Of course I couldnt do that at all without your app.
The joystick axis means it only takes a fraction of a second.

Thanks!

OK, now that I have been playing around with it for a litle while I have one suggestion for a future update.

That would be to have some smoothing on the joystick axis. I use a CH fighterstick and while the throttle isnt moving, sometimes it gives off very small changes that result in a change of FOV which is a bit disconcerting when flying.

I will have a look in the CH control manager, I might be able to smooth it out there as well.

Thanks!

Hi there.

I'm afraid I am having trouble getting this to work :(

It seems to detect that il2 is running and the start button is enabled, pressing it seems to do nothing.

I have made the changes to the Conf.ini and entered my IP address. I would be very grateful for any help with this.

I am using th2go with 3 1280X1024 monitors

Hi there!

let me first Thank you for this beutiful tool, i'm using it since a while and i won't do without it

i found it so wonderful i tried to promote it wherever i can without ask
accordingly to beer-ware policies :cheers (anyway i hope its ok)

http://il2sim.isgreat.org/j/index.php/downloads/9-utilita/114-il2-fov-changer.html
http://www.tuttovola.org/smf/index.php?topic=3057.0

i use several parallel installation of il2-sturmovik 1946
really, i never bugged with FOVC whatever the path to my il2sim,
but once i tried RC i noticed it works only with modded game

using il2FOVChanger_CR i tried the following
- 4.08m official (doesn't work)
- 4.09m official (doesn't work)
- Ultrapack 1.7 (works)
- Ultrapack 1.8 (works)
- Ultrapack 2.0cr (works)
- SAS Modact 2.2 (works)
- SAS Modact 2.1 + custom content (works)
- 4.08 + custom content (works)

where "doesn't work" means i'm having the same identical issue Metalstar said:
- start/restart seems to work then nothing
- i can see increasing/decreasing values in debug tab, but i have one only single step FOV change, then nothing more

i'm scratching by myself with this thing for days but i can't solve it

i can tell you the file "il2fb.exe" which works is the "russian noCD" ( 156 kb - MD5 5b7e802ad66e3e399dfd06292ad8c831)

when i use an installation with il2fb.exe (4442kb - MD5 f4bef9567355b429560622a2ada0b9c1 ,,,, the stock/original executable)

i tried then using FOVC 1.058 and everything worked like a charme with both the executables

am I the only one having these issue ???

i use switch between parallel installation using a beer-ware tool i built last year http://il2sim.isgreat.org/j/index.php/downloads/9-utilita/59-rfc-lalternativa-a-gme-esiste-ed-e-qui.html
(it does a kind of "three cards game" with folder renaming )

one of my friends has built another swithcer which is smarter than mine, redirecting HL calls the the selected il2 environment http://www.acebus.com/il2switcher/ i found it hangs with FOVC: when i use both FOVC lags a lot, i think its because both have an open tcp port looking for il2fb.exe ... isn't it ?

i hope i wrote useful debug infos, if need for more just ask me what needed i'll do my best

tomorrow i'm going to leave for spend Xmas vacations with parents, but i'll be available to go deeper if needed;
let me keep the occasion to wish you all a Merry Christmas and all the best forthe incoming year

S!

I have the same result as radar and Metalstar.

The program seems to detect that il2 is running and the start button is enabled, pressing it seems to do nothing.
I have made the changes to the Conf.ini and entered my IP address

My window is XP SP2, DirectX 9.0c
with Microsoft NET Framework 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 all installed.
I have tried IL2 1946 v4.07m and 4.08m official, both do not work.

Sorry if this is a noob question, if I want to run the game in 16:9, what resolutions are available, and where to select it? what FOV number should I use?

Please help.

To radar
> 4.08 + custom content (works)
Could you please let me know what custom content?
Thanks.

I've been using this program for weeks without any problems, but now, for no apparent reason, it has stopped working. I get a message saying "FovChanger has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I tried deleting the old FovChanger folder and reinstalling the program, but no luck. I haven't changed anything so I have no idea what the problem could be.

there's a config file in il2fov changer folder,
once you tuned il2fovChanger the way you need
make a backup copy of that file because in case of application crash you may lost it making il2fovChanger unusable

(there's a template named quickPref if i'm not wrong)

As I already mentioned, after it stopped working I deleted the old FoV folder and reinstalled it all again from the zip file. It still doesn't work.

Maybe you have the .Net Framework corrupted.
Can you post the advanced information from the error?

Hi!

First of all, thanks @ San for this great tool for us, widescreen users! :bowdown

I've found out how to fix the issue Metalstar and others encountered.
I had this problem too and looked with Sysinternals' TCPView how IL2 and FovChanger were using the network interface. Here is what I saw:
- IL2 uses IP 0.1.0.4 on port 1711
- FovChanger uses 0.0.0.0:1711. As it was not working, it tried to use something from 0.0.0.0:1000 to 0.0.0.0:4000.

An instant fix is to force IL2 to use IP 0.0.0.0 with this change in the conf.ini:

Code:

   [DeviceLink]
   host=0.0.0.0
   port=1711

:D

if i may be helpful i'd be glad do it with the fairest GNU/Freeware intentions ;)

well i'm not a wiz but i think compile and override some il2 classes would be enough

i never tried do something similar while your FOVchanger works so nicely
but i think would be a great improvement if possible to bring it inside the sim

I'd like to move the map more to the left or to the right, but there seem to be some invisible borders. Any idea how to do this?

The other problem is not really important to me, but I have seen screenshots, where the speed bar was more left or right (it's cutting half by half by the bezel). How to do this?

Hello!

I tested Fov changer and its works very nice but I have one problem with the program.
I have a CH's pro throttle and I would want to use the throttle's buttons to change fov but in the program a joystic selection box is grey and I can't use CH's buttons.
I dont know what I would to do.
Can anybody help me ?

Hi guys,
a big thank you to ylb for the above fix "host=0.0.0.0". It fixed my problem completely.
Now I can see how good San's FOV changers is - very nice - thank you San's.

Hi all,

San, hope your still around and checking up on things. Love the FOV changer it has to be one of the best things to happen to IL-2. One thing I and many of my squad members have noticed is that your program seems to freak out a little from time to time. It starts continually zooming in and while I believe you have mentioned this issue in some of the reading I have been doing, restarting the FOV changers doesn't always seem to fix the problem for the current mission one happens to be on. Usually the issue is gone on the next mission but when you are online or playing in co-ops this occasional glitch for lack of a better term will pretty much put you out of contention for that round of play. I've sure you are a very busy person but if this minor issue could be resolved by you or if the source code was available so that someone else who had the time could look into it we'd all be singing your praises even louder then we already do. If this could be fixed your program would be 110% percent complete and perfect. Once again though we would really love to see this fixed if at all possible.

P.S. The above mentioned FOV glitch is still occurring in stock 4.10 without the 6DOF mod. You mentioned in the troubleshooting section of your FOV instructions that this glitch was 6DOF related but this doesn't seem to be the case. Your thoughts please.

Fantastic tool! Works great with IL2 and 3 wide screens (ATI 5770 Eyefinity). Only one little problem - centre screen is perfect but the 2 side screens are a little stretched and distorted. Anyone else encounter this?

Love the IL-2 FOV Changer, works perfectly ! I use 110 for a 17" portrait 24" landscape 17" portrait set up.

Also, for anyone frustrated with trying to get IL-2 working, check my post on the SoftTH forum [url]http://www.kegetys.net/forum] and the accompanying video link for some help getting this classic sim up and running in triple wide.

I need some help with IL2 1946 and San's IL2 FOV Changer.

I started playing IL2 in XP SP3 and then in a youtube video (made by Ra'Kaan) I saw San's IL2 Fov changer. I went into his site and downloaded 1.0.5.8 version.

I had install that in XP and worked perfectly. For your knowledge I had a Nvidia 8800GTS with 2 monitors connected and had no issues.

Now I have upgraded my graphic card to connect 3 screens, manly for playing IL2 in multi-screen environment. As far as I know, XP don't allow more than 2 monitors per graphic card, so I upgrade my system to windows 7 and I have already 3 monitors working in Windows 7 Ultimate and I'm experience some issues with San's IL2 FOV Changer.

I installed the game and San's program, initial version was 4.07m and San's FOV changer is 1.0.5.8 Beta and the San's FOV Changer doesn't seem to be able to communicate with IL2 and I'm running out of ideas and don't know what to do.

I installed the game and changed conf.ini:

"
SaveAspect=0
.
.
.
[DeviceLink]
port=1711
IPS=192.168.1.2
"

I have configured the IP in San's Programm and check if the port was 1711 also.

This version worked in XP, so this version have DeviceLink.txt in game directory and the name of the process is il2fb.exe.

I have been in several forums looking for a solution and I noticed some guys were having also the same issues as I was. I also tried ylb suggestion and change confi.ini and added host=0.0.0.0 in [DeviceLink].

I already have tried IL2 - 1946, version 4.07m, 4.08m, 4.09m and 4.10 and San's version 1.0.5.6, 1.0.5.8 and finally 1.0.6.9 RC.

The San's FOV Changer receive keyboard inputs and I can see in the Debug Tab FOV changing but in the game don't change anything.

I installed also Sysinternals' TCPView to see how IL2 and FOV Changer communicate with each other and I can't see there the IL2fb.exe process although it appear in Windows Task Manager with the correct name il2fb.exe.

I also gave admin privileges to both programs.

I suspect the issue is something about windows 7, but I can't discover what. Can anybody give some clues to resolve this problem?

Thanks.

Finally, I got the solution... I will post it here, it can be useful for somebody.

I tried to deactivated step-by-step Window's Firewall, DEP and the problem still happens. Then I remember to deactivated User Account Control and il2fb.exe open the TCP service and started communicating with San's FOV Changer.

Even in the first grade of security, that don't let il2fb.exe open the TCP service.

I reinstalled AVG, turn all on, except User Account Control and now works perfectly.

I've been using San's FOV changer for a year or two now with mixed success - but mostly success. Until a few days ago it was working perfectly (I think because I'd finally eliminated key conflicts) but now I can't get it to work at all.

My problems started when the Changer appeared to crash, and I'd get notifications that the Changer had encountered problems and had to close. I then tried to uninstall/reinstall the programme but strangely, when I looked for the FOV changer in my list of programmes in control panel I couldn't find it??? Now when I attempt to reinstall it I again get a notification telling me that the Changer has encountered problems and has had to close. So, not only do I not have it installed, I can't install it.

Is anyone able to help me with this. I now find IL-2 almost unplayable without it. PS, I thought the problem may be because I didn't have .net but that programme does appear as installed on my system.

Any help appreciated.
