Are you sure of this ? The normal FOV is a bit narrow for a TPS, so you may think it's Vert- while in fact it's not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt-vK0pLcHY (>= 1080p and fullscreen tbh)

Cutscene FOV Adjusted
Menu's scaled
Gameplay FOV Adjusted

Remaining defects: Black bars during cutscenes, can probably be negated by detecting when a cutscene is in progress and resizing the HUD. (larger the HUD, closer the black bars are to the top and bottom, eventually taking them off screen)

mighta had the FOV up 10-15 degrees too high in the video.

Hey looks great HaYDeN ! I know you're up to the job, :cheers but i think Abram (and all of us in fact) is refering to a public release of the fix, so we could also enjoy this title on surround / eyefinity gaming.

Ooo looking good, Hayden. I've put off playing it a second time waiting for a fix...

Yes, the FOV looks a tad too high for my tastes. The black bars are certainly tolerable. getting the HUD back to the bottom would be nice. But hell, I'd play it right now, as is.

Thanks for not killing yourself.

PS - if you don;t mind sharing, what did you have to do to get it like that?

its all memory editing, multiple points of interest - finding stable pointers [chains of addresses pointing to the data you wish to modify that remain pointing at the same destination after multiple restarts, level changes etc] is what makes UE3 problematic.... hours of digging through ASM.

Can be done by replacing parts of the games code also, but I'm not a fan of this approach for cheat detection reasons (not really a issue with RE5 tho)

Think I have pretty much any UE3 based title under control now however, made alot of ground breaking discoveries with Mass Effect actually.

Looks great, can't wait for release :). I especially like how you changed the FOVs in the video, the default is definitely a bit too zoomed in for my tastes.

Maybe you can make a guide for how to make these game fixes for the rest of us wannabes?

Are you planning on releasing a bunch of game fixes simultaneously or something? I see this isn't the only game pending a release.

Please try http://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/ - read the instructions, use the RELOADED exe and dont use the mouse to navigate the menus lol.

If you rekon I've got the FOV too high (calculated to where it SHOULD be, roughly) then enter a negitive number in FOV boost.

Ok, I've tested this fix with both the retail and steam copies (using the reloaded exe). The menu remains stuck after the first menu. It sates, "Content Loaded," yet it doesn't move further after this message.

I also tried enabling the fix once I've gotten into the game, yet it just crashes every time I try.

Thoughts?

something I probably havent mentioned, its DX10 only - using that?

again I made the assumption probably no one uses DX9 anymore.

I've also been using DX10, yet the issue persists.

Could you post where you got your launcher executable, maybe the one I have is different.

No luck.

More accurately, I cannot get it to start. Tried DX9, DX10, multiple combos of Control/Alt/Shit/Winkey/single letter, and even hitting the Enable/Disable box does nothing. The "Plugin Status Messages" area aways says "Fix Disabed".

Thank you for your efforts, Hayden.

Guys - you will likely need the RETAIL exe's too, because the steam ones will have steamworks related code in them, aka they will not be the same as the retail version.

RELOADED Launcher
RETAIL RE5DX10.exe

Backup your original RE5DX10.exe and try the one below...

Yep. Using retail copy, and the correct rack. I even got that original .exe you linked to. Again, I tried enabling with the Enable/Disable box and tried a few different keystroke-enabling combos as well.

After starting up the newest version, my Plugin Status Messages window displayed this after i launched the game and hit the Enable/Disable box.

Code:
Game Detected:True
   Detected Resolution: 0x0
   Original Aspect: 1.7067
   New Aspect: -1#IND

I thought that perhaps the Resolution line was showing "0x0", that my bezel-compensated res was the problem. however, 5760x1200 made no difference.

Retailversion, original RE5DX10.exe, RELOADED Launcher.exe, newest plugin.

I don't know...

I use retail installation + the RELOADED no CD crack [replaces just the launcher from memory]

Steam EXE may or may not have steam related extra's in the executable, donno.

Well, you can be a little louder because it works great for me, now. Woo!

There's still a (very tolerable) black line on the FMVs, but the FOV looks good, as do the inventories. Though for some reason, I'm unable to select my native bezel-compensated resolution. But the lower one works fine, and still look great with AA added. And the FOV increase/decrease does not work in-game.

Retail version, DX10, Reloaded .exe.

thanks, man!
and thank you for your continued efforts.

Is anyone else able to select their native Bezel-compensated resolution? I guess I'll poke around for a config file.

Did you click the Set FOVBoost thing after changing the fovboost setting? works here....

It raises it a little bit by default anyway... the fovboost is just to add a bit more. [or decrease it]

great news it works for more than 1 person now :D

Is there any way to fix the mouse problem? Sensitivity decreases when you're moving/strafing :| I want the mouse to move the same speed no matter what my character is doing.

Quick question:

Does any else have an issue with slow/jarring cut-scenes? They're quite jerky and really unwatchable (also cropped).

Thanks Guys!

My cutscenes look fine, other then than the little black bar near the top. Are you speaking of the pre-rendered ones (does it even have pre-rendered scenes? I cunt; recall)

In any case, it's a blemish i codul certainly live with.

Abram, could you tell me your settings in Flawless and in the game?

Do you think that since I'm running from Steam, that's effecting it?

Thanks!

Well I only played it for about 10 minutes to test it out, but I used the default settings. I use the retail version, but others have reported that the Steam version works. Are you selecting "Latest Version" for use with Steam?

Are you sure those cutscenes display properly when using single screen?

What resolution are you running at Abram?

At 1920x1080 it runs like silk. On 6048x1080 it gets really choppy.

6036X1200. My specs are in my sig. It runs very well at that resolution, but i did notice that my lower bezel-corrected resolution does not show up in the options. But i have not tried forcing it in the configuration file. Maybe see if your game will etl you. And since it's just the cut scenes, is it really worth worrying about? So long as the gameplay is good?

The config.ini is in UsersMyDocumentscapcomRESIDENT EVIL 5config.ini change the value at the "Resolution=" line under the [Display] section. There are a couple toehr lines in there that cannot be change through the options menu.

One line that comes to mind is the "Jobthread=" line. After some poking around the intertubes, it seems to always set the value to one less your CPU cores. I have a quad-core, it's set to 3 for me, dual-core users claim it's set to 1 for them. I assume the missing core is saved for something else, but it may be worth a try to raise or lower it.

PS - you DO have the latest version of flawlessws.exe , right?

PPS - off-topic, but has anyone has success with Steam+Retail CO-OP? I'm having issues.

After turning off AA, the cut-scenes work fine now!

Question, is it possible to retain the natural FOV in-game, without the cropped cut-scenes.

When I toggle the FOV fix in Flawless, although it fixes the cut-scenes, it zooms out far too much in-game (I prefer the classic RE perspective).

Thanks!

I've been trying to get it to work in nvidia surround w/no luck. As long as there is no cutscene it will play, but when a cutscene is shown-the monitors goes nuts, flashing colors & sound goes choppy as heck. I've tried earlier as well as latest drivers . It aslso did it w/only 2 cards in sli. Maybe this patch doesn't work w/nvidia cards ?

playing 3D surround, I had the same problem with cutscenes, and worse still, it causes system crash, not just the game -- it'd be bad for the cards~ wouldn't try it again~

The new Steam-Version of RE5 should make it easier to make it work at 5760x1080 ^^
