[quote] Seriously, I don't understand why people re-format there drive and do clean install from time to time. . Yes I know that Windows s**ks and all the crap it accumulate eventually will cause some lost of performance. But is it really that big a deal to start with? Even a 5% drop is hardly noticeable if you have a fast enough system.
I'll give you a piece of paper, a pencil and an eraser. You can draw as much as you want on the piece of paper and then erase it! Eventually you can come back to me to get a new piece of paper if you want or you could even pay me money to get a bigger piece of paper!
Eventually that piece of paper is just not the same piece of paper that you were first given. Even if there was nothing wrong with the old paper wouldn't you just rather get a new piece of paper? I know that I sure would.
And well that's basically how I feel about reformatting. Even if performance gains are minimal a fresh start always feels amazing, its like nice new freshly washed underware, or the fresh smell of spring cleaning.
I will say that I've been on this install of windows for over 2 years now, and I've been wanting to reformat for over half a year now. Reformatting is definitely work especially with drives as big as they are now, I haven't been able to format simply because I had no place to backup lots of this data too (its not vital data but I would prefer not to lose it..)
No thank you. I recently went from a E6750 to the Q9550 so I'm fine, next up if I feel my system being pushed is probably a new Vid card. After that, it's time to retire this system and go Win7/i7.
