The FOV slider "defaults" at 60 for all aspect ratios, it's just another graphics setting in this game, it doesn't really have a default.

so what does it look like when the slider is at say, 60 or 90 on 4:3, compared to 16:10 at 70 or 100, respectively?

I don't think it's right to classify this as vert- behavior. We don't classify game behavior based on how it behaves without changing anything, we classify behavior based on what can be achieved. E.g. games where the FOV can be changed via config files are considered hor+.

Since this game has an adjustable FOV it should be considered hor+; if not, I would argue that completely shitcans the grades given for games with config file adjustable FOVs and that's a bad thing.

The only issue is that the WSGF grading works around the assumption of a default or intended FOV at 4:3 and it's questionable what that is here. Assuming that the max FOV is the "intended" FOV for the purposes of the DR is rather suspect since I doubt anyone is using 120° FOV with a 4:3 resolution. I think the grading should be based on a assuming a PC game "standard" of 90° at 4:3 is the default. In which case hor+ for 16:10 and 16:9 are achievable and maybe TH still has some issues.

I'm trying to get SWG working with Nvidia Surround and cannot get the resolution above 1920x1080 to show up in the game configuration panel. What exactly do I need to get this working on three displays? I have three 27" 1080P displays.

reeeally need some help here!

Editing the display resolution in the options.cfg file did not work. It crashes Direct3D/DirectX.

Sounds a lot like a default value to me. :|

X-Plane has the same kind of "native, optional" support: you can adjust the hFOV as part of the graphic options, although no automatic adjustment is done based on your AR. Still, it's not a Vert- game because you can adjust the hFOV. So the method section should explain how to do it, from the arbitrary but reasonable assumption that 60 is the FOV associated with 4:3.

According to FOVCalc...
FOV value for 4:3 = 60
FOV value for 16:10 = 69.43
FOV value for 16:9 = 75.18
FOV value for 48:10 = 128.61 (out of bounds)

With these values, is widescreen not Hor+ ?

long story shrot, NO THANKS to SOE but if you span your desktop using the Nvidia control panel it works...sort of. After five minutes in game it crashed, then every restart reduced the time until crash, I took a shuttle to coronet and now the game crashes as soon as it loads up. GRRR.
