When I built my machine in July of 2010 I got a Radeon HD 5870. Since I have acquired three monitors capable of 1920 x 1200 and have really enjoyed the Eyefinity Experience over the past year.

But now I am running into some games I cannot get to playable FPS even with a lot of tweaking ...

I did a test with the Steam version as well and am getting the same behavior. The left and right monitors are blacked out. I hope this can be resolved!

Sorry for the question, I am missing somethign I guess. Can you see farther with the windowed fullscreen mode when it goes wide? Or does it make it higher resolution but keep the same field of view?

Well Steam, that is interesting. And useless. :-)

I finished Skyrim for a while, but when I spent my three or four weeks playing I kept Steam in offline mode for the weeks when it had a skyrim beta brewing. Kind of over the top, but since that was the only purpose for Steam for those few days ...

Here is a new one for me. I start Skyrim and can load and play with the big menus.

But when I start the latest fix (at beth menu) then after the load screen for entering the latest save game, it exits to desktop every time.

When I load a save game without the fix running it loads as ...

OK. I found it was actually creating a new process for each time I tried to start it. But the gui did not show up, but is minimized. So that is fixed. I am now trying to figure out why my games do not run right in the fixer.

I heard rave reviews about 1.4 so far on other boards that are not concerned with surround gaming, but your comment about the town unloading concerns me. I am a long time computer user who finally took the plunge into Eyefinity a week ago. I bought two more matching 28" Hanns-G monitors and a directport converter off Amazon and it is working great so far. I love the site and the community here.
