Another trick is to do google image search for just about anything, then on the "more options" select "Larger than" and from the drop-down box you get 15MP images or larger, then you can simply crop down with a tool like Paint.net or photoshop to your specific resolution.

I believe the total grouping resolution is bound to the lowest common denominator. In my case I have smallish monitors:
1X Dell 2007WFP @ 1680x1050 (DVI), 2X Dell P2010H @ 1600 X900 (1 DVI, 1 Display Port)

Yes, 2 on DVI and one on display port.
I opted to buy display port monitors... since you are buying new, that should be very easy to find. The adapters are more for folks trying to get use out of old monitors that don't have display port.
