I was an early adopter of the new AMD/ATI EYEFINITY technology, bought a 5870 the day the went on sale, and picked up 3 Dell 2408WFP's. I mainly just play two games, WoW and TF2. And playing in either Landscape mode with 5760x1200res or Portrait with 3600x1920res is totally unreal

This card interests me more than the upcoming dual GPU 5970.

First off it is a single 5870 with 2gb memory, that is very good and great for Eyefinity setups. And I always thought a 5 x 1 with all displays in Portrait mode will look fucking awesome giving a 6000 x 1920res for 5 - 24" monitors ...

Dave i know this regarding dragon age but any chance of requesting a patch for borderlands as well i know most of the guys here are looking for this suuport in the game i know i am for one.

very cool. I have 3 Dell2408WFP's, I should try them out in Portrait mode. It makes the games look normal, while the triple widescreen looks freaked out and way too stretched.

Do you play WoW ? Would love to see that in Portrait mode, or any MMORPG, maybe Aion or WarHammer Online if you have ...

I truly think now that triple surround would look best with a large center display in Landscape, and the sides smaller in Portrait. I bet the best Eyefinity setup if AMD allowed it to work would be 20" + 30" + 20" for a grand total of 4960x1600res. You would still have an awesome center monitor at ...

You can set FOV for WoW in the config.wtf file. This is nothing new as far as an issue though. Most 3D engines get the fisheye effect because they were never designed with such wide aspect ratios in mind. The closer to you get to 180 degrees the worse it gets in many 3d engines. This is an old ...

My only gripe with Eyefinity so far is the fish eye lens or very stretched out look on the side monitors in games, it is pretty bad and annoying to me now. In WoW it is almost a distraction, the images look bent or like an acid trip all distorted too much, where it does not seem to go with the ...

- Dealing with the game developers to create the correct aspect ratio or FOV (field of view) for these extreme wide resolutions.

With my Eyefinity setup 3 - 24" Dell 2408WFP's...I wonder if I should try them out all in Portrait mode ? Instead of 5760x1200res that would give me 3600x1920res ? That is the exact same number of pixels, but might look better for gaming ? Still a wide screen, but get a lot of vertical height, and ...

And about having the start button & the task icons in the center monitor, I just use regular windows extended desktop to get that.

How exactly do I get that going ? I am totally unfamiliar with that

First off, I'd suggest reading the PDF above - it details (Page 24) how to set saved profiles and assign them to CCC Hotkeys so that you can more easily flick between extended desktop modes and Eyefinity Display Group modes ...
