A Vampyre Story at Desktop Resolution

Would this process work for any game? It seems very handy.
The idea just popped into my head yesterday so I have not played with it much. The 3 games I tried made this method look very promising.

Some games will just stretch to fit the screen not keeping the aspect ratio. Such as A Vampyre ...

A Vampyre Story at Desktop Resolution

I've seen this at Target, and it got decent reviews. How does it perform in WS?
This patch just allows you to play the game in a resolution other then the fixed mode of 800x600. They say the game is 1024x768 on their site/forums, but a screenshot is 800x600. The patch stretches the game to fit ...

A Vampyre Story at Desktop Resolution

Here is a work in progress patch, that may lead to cool stuff for other games.

Basically this is an AutoHotkey script that takes a game running in a window and makes it fit the desktop and removes the border.

Install AutoHotkey from: http://www.autohotkey.com/

First make the game run ...

It's working now!

I'm glad you got it working. Maybe you could post the fix in that German forum you mentioned, if you are a member.

I'd invite you for a beer, if you'd be nearby :D

Strange, Let me know if you ever figure it out.

I just tried S&M 101 on Vista64. TTRes worked fine for me in the game directory. I even tried 640x480 and it worked great. I deleted the prefs.prop file and when I ran the game the prefs.prop file came back and I could edit it fine.

Of course ...

you really think so?
I mean, if the Program/Game trys to put a file in a certain folder, vista is puttung it somewhere else?
Can hardly imagine that.
It's worth a try to do a search including hidden folders. Vista does what vista wants.

If you can save your settings and the file is not ...

You now know why I do not use vista for my game machine.

Can't help you much, other then tell you that vista must be putting the file somewhere else. If you can change game settings, then there must be a prefs.prop file somewhere. Do a search for all prefs.prop files on c:. Of course it ...

On the german vista version the folder Program Files is called Programme.
Do you think that this may have caused the problems?

No, the name should have nothing to do with it. Most likely it has something to do with UAC or some other rights issue with access to files in the Program Files ...

Hmm... must be a Vista conflict. Try copying the S&M prefs.prop file and TTRes.exe over to your documents directory and see if it works there.

Re: it's not working for me

I've tried that tool on tales of monkey island and it's working just fine with it.
Bu it isn't working on Sam and Max Season one.
It always tells me "File prefs.prop not found." but it's defenely there.
Hope someone can help me.
Make sure that TTRes.exe is run from the game directory where ...

Have you tried to fix the shades in Sam & Max Season 1?
Do you think the resolution for the shades is stored in the same file?
The graphic masks for the TV/Dream/etc views are stored encrypted in the copyrighted game files, so there is nothing I can do for that. Sorry. The prefs.prop file only ...

Minor update. If you downloaded ver 1.1 (July 8) then redownload 1.1a (July 12).

This (hopefully) fixes a bug where it could not find the resolution bytes.

BTW, the lastest version has untested support up to 4095x4095.

I have updated the program to be able to just read the current video mode. Also you can now select resolutions as low as 640x480.

This program has been tested working with Tales of Monkey Island.

Okay. I got the files uploaded, I got a Wiki page made, and I posted it to the home page news.

Actually the one hosted on rapidshare is slightly newer. The version I gave you only goes to 2040, the one here goes to 2047. Every pixel counts. :)

Re: Wallace & Gromit (Demo)

Tell Tale has released the demo of Wallace & Gromit - snip- It has support for everything up to 5040x1050 (though this pretty much a waste).

Is it possible you mean 2040 and not 5040?

I can not get the game to use any modes over 2040. I tried 2050x1500 and it does not show up in the ...

Wallace & Gromit (Demo)

FWIW, you probably alreay tested this, but it does put proper side bars when the aspect ratio exceeds 16:9. I tested an 1.8887 mode to see what happens.

It would be nice if TTG updated S&M 1&2 to use this graphic engine. That way S&M 1 could use any resolution, but crop to 4:3. I know we would ...

Telltale Games - Sam & Max, Strong Bad

Now were really getting somewhere.

It seems the magic switch-over number is 1024.
1024/8 = 128 = 0x80
(1024-512)/4 = 128 = 0x80

So below 1024 you use (res-512)/4.
1024 is always 0x80.
Above 1024 you use res/8.

Not sure why TTG went this route instead of just storing the res in ...
