My game arrived ...
I tried the beta patch ... and ... errrr .....
The patch adds a slider to the menu and sets the default FOV to 90 ... presumably 4:3
So ...

16:10 should therefore be about ....... 100.39487232
16:9 about ......................................... 106.270273206

SWEET widescreen support is working.... cant change the fov in the menu since the slider doesnt work but you can change it in the ini and it works fine.. also it seems the weapon doesnt get cut off anymore... so this is true hor+ for everything

Hmm, how bout putting that fov100 fix on the main fire button, then clicking sniper/alternate fire wouldn't have it active, and you'd mainly have correct fov since you're rarely not shooting (or at least I am).

Sniper rifle eh? I forgot about that and havn't run into it.

When I was ingame and I consoled the sniper, it didn't give me any grief, but I better retest it.

EDIT: DAGNAMMIT!!!! Yes, you lose the scope. AAAARRRRR!

Ok, there has to be a better solution. However ...

ok im not going through all that trouble just to enable proper widescreen... this is ridiculous... i cant play the game anyway without it crashing every minute...

here is the list of various FOVs used by gears... unfortunately editing any ini file from the game directory will cause it to give an error

i get the same error... also the game crashes for me in xp and the music doesnt work (need to manually load it)... you really need win98 for this

why not just freeze the value at 100?... the sniper is a problem though since it uses fov of ~39 i think it was... im not very good with programming but i was thinking in general terms if fov = 39, set fov 39, else set fov 100....

yup i can confirm the game is hor+

i was having the same problem as them... the values keep changing every time you load a new map and they are stored in a different location and i just cant get a pointer to work there

all hope is not lost however... nov 19 the game will be out and we will know for sure if we need to create the ...

since no one else seems to be working on it and well i had a bit of free time so i decided to give it another shot... this is the best i came up with so far

the good:
- can adjust fov to any value (no limit)
- fov stays even after respawn

the bad:
- sniper rifle scope only works at a ...

i tried both cheat engine and artmoney and i didnt find anything useful... i cant believe were doing this... a multi million dollar game that doesnt support widescreen when there have been games like half life 2 that supported it out of the box since it came out in 2004
