Alright, I've been trying to do this for the last hour, but no, it won't work.
I have cracked exe, it's patched to 1.1b or whatever it was, and I used manual way (hex-editing) to do it.

I've been trying to use the new UI files to get the map to work properly and the weird thing is the 16:9 version works fine if I set the game to 1920*1080, but when I use the 16:10 version with 2560*1600 the map is still screwed up. I've transferred the correct file into the override folder, but ...

Update,

I've also checked darkstar one and Operation flashpoint. Both support 2560 x 1600 right out of the box. I'm really impressed with operation flashpoint because the game was released years ago.
