Future setup should you feel the need for more than 3... 4 should be easy.... Beyond you'll need DP hubs (not available yet) Eyefinity with hubs... the 6 series... With 2 MST HUBs (utilizing DP ver 1.2 bandwidth) or daisy chaining (rare on monitors) .... you can drive up to 10 (1920x1200) displays (...

Eyefinity with hubs... the 6 series...
With 2 MST HUBs (utilizing DP ver 1.2 bandwidth) or daisy chaining (rare on monitors) .... you can drive up to 10 (1920x1200) displays (more if you split the DL-DVI)...

Up to 4 from each mini-DP... and 2 from the "legacy" DL-DVI

[quote]thanks for chiming in regarding my problem. Yes, the 1920x2400 stripes @ 48Hz have to be dual-link connections, so I'll need active adapters if the SIX is involved. just to clarify dual link or not has no bearing whatsoever with the need for active adaptors ! on a single 5870 or 5870Six => u...

Actually, he would only need 2 active adapters and 2 passive, as the built in clocks for the card are just like the standard 5870.

I believe passive adapters only provide up to SL-DVI bandwidth... DL-DVI bandwidth is required for 1920x2400@48Hz for half the T221 screen

2 groups (one T221 with dual DL-DVI) , each from a card should be possible. After all, ATI demoed 4 groups (6 monitors each) with 4 SixEdition cards... SixEdition is not suitable for your displays, though you'll need only one card instead of 2, you'll need 4 active DP to DL-DVI converters, and you m...

Had ATI's eyefinity have 4 DVI outputs Sony's 4k (3840x2160) display would have been easily powered/supported, but If someone could afford a 7 to 8k USD display. Active converters should not be a problem (Or using dual DH2Go/TH2Go DVI/DP edition). Sony probably use the same glass panel cut from 28" ...

If you have at present only one 24" 1920x1200 display, just get another 2 x 24" (1920x1200), just make sure at least one has a DP port.

2 x 20" 1600x1200 will not look right, as it is or different pixel-pitch (0.27 vs 0.255), even if you can run them using SoftTH style.

HDMI = SL-DVI + digital audio (as audio is not usually present on a GC), HDMI = SL-DVI, same number of connections, just different sockets.

So I was wondering what setup I should build when I can get the money and I came up with the Following: 24" 24" 24" (Used in Eyefinity)[3x1920x1200] ------------- (My Stand) 19" 19" 19" (Done With TH2Go) [3x1440x900] [This is a Flight simulator setup with dash controls on the bottom screens and the...

with a DH2Go Digital and a TH2Go (Digital??) you already can achieve 5 displays with the present 5870 or 5850, without going to DP to DVI active adapters. However for now, Eyefinity can only be enable in 4 display/projector setup (2 for Each DH2Go and TH2Go). Actually if you have 4x 1080p projectors...

The 2 DP+ port on the 6edition may only output upto SL-DVI with passive adapters. If you require DL-DVI bandwidth, you'll may require active adapters too... So if the TS intends to drive 6 30" with DL-DVI input only, he may require 6 active adapters.

I posted this question in another thread but it appears to have been buried in the sheer number of posts, so I figure I'll ask it here: does Eyefinity support overscan compensations for HDTVs - you know, the resolution within a resolution stuff? How about getting a HDTV with 1:1 option instead (mos...

ATI's Eyefinity that requires DP monitors for more than 2 multi-displays setup, may still give Matrox some opportunity/benefit/compliment each other in the desktop market especially with their DP edition extenders. Their pricing however needs to be at or below the (2 or 3 combos of) powered DP to DV...

All of these boards can drive two "legacy" display outputs, the additional displays have to be DisplayPort. The Eyefinity6 Edition board will be DP+, but again only up to 2 outputs - more than two outputs will still require DP. Is it safe to assume a Eyefinity6 ed. with 6 mini-DPs will only support...

For Matrox to be competitive/relevant.. They may need to intro a TH2Go or QH2Go that utilize the DP 1.2 spec bandwidth (Though no display card use it yet, maybe soon)... The surely will be able to support 3 or 4 (1920x1200) displays.. and at least 2 (2560x1600, 3 will be pushing at the very edge wit...

DP to VGA adapters are (most likely) not active adapters, but a signal/cable pass through adapters (as with the DVI-I to VGA adapters). It seems Apple are the only ones using the DP to carry analog VGA signals as well (and charging a lot for the adapter, USD 34, when it should cost only about USD2.5)

I was merely stating that it was possible. There is also an HDMI port on the back, but we all know that HDMI has a greater bandwidth then DVI. Not all HDMI,.... only HDMI 1.3 specs with greater bandwidth than DL-DVI or even DP.. However, hardly any devices/displays utilize that bandwidth or 1.3 spe...

The 6 mini-DP output.... I suspect will not support DL-DVI or VGA ouptut, therefore negating the possibility of using TH2Go analog or digital (non-DP). But should be possible with the DP editions.. However in the 5870 specs.. I could be wrong but it seems, it is possible for 2 VGA outputs, 2 HDMI/DL...
