Well that changelog was pretty long, maybe now they can focus on less important things like a simple ratio aspect cvar. Are they (or was it just players) in the mindset of "its cheating, cause you can see more"? Cause then I also cheat cause I have a 7800GTX and someone else may have a GeForce3 ...

Also the current version of Quake II Evolved offers widescreen with a few added graphical insentives. It still looks about the same and I'm sure you could probably tweak it down to mimic the look of old Q2. The screenshots on their homepage are from a beta version, their current doesn't look like ...

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (also Unreal based) requires that HDR Rendering is turned off in order to get AA.
May be it is something like this ?
Current HDR rendering and anti-aliasing are mutually exclusive.
