Choplifter HD

Choplifter HD is a sidescroller game where the player pilots a rescue chopper to save people while defending itself. A variety of helicopters are available over the 30+ missions. Choplifter HD ranges from plausible situations such as rescuing a news crew on a burning building to shaking zombies from the helicopter in order to survive.

The helicopter can take damage during the missions and be repaired, and will sometimes require refueling. The game focuses on fun gameplay with witty sound-clips and humorous situations, such as chickens being sucked into the helicopter blades.

Solutions & Issues
Baseline (Widescreen) Solution & Issues

Pick your resolution from the launcher app. High resolutions (>1920) seem to mess up with aiming controls, esp. using the mouse. The gun seems to fire where you want it to, only the laser sight gets stuck a lot. High 4:3 resolutions are also affected, so nothing specific to WS/MM gaming here.

Ultra/Super-Wide (21:9/32:9) Specific Solution & Issues

Eyefinity / Surround Specific Solution & Issues

The FOV can be fixed with a simple .ini edit.

Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ChopGame\Config\ChopInput.ini

[Engine.PlayerInput]

Add the following lines:

Bindings=(Name="V",Command="FOV 145") // fixed FOV
Bindings=(Name="B",Command="FOV 100") // default FOV, gameplay
Bindings=(Name="N",Command="FOV 90") // default FOV, main menu

Save changes and run the game.

Hit V at the beginning of a mission to fix the FOV.
Hit B to reset the FOV (you shouldn't have to, but it's fun to compare on-the-fly).
Hit N to reset the FOV of the main menu's backdrop scene (again, just for fun).

You can also add the FOV command to an existing control, e.g

Bindings=(Name="W",Command="FOV 145 | GBA_MoveForward")

Use FOVCalc if you want to find the perfect value for your resolution (Old Ratio 16:9, Old hFOV 100).

Noticeable object culling on the far sides of the display. Visual cues are slightly misaligned until the chopper reaches the target.
News-ticker text is longer than the red background for it, some other minor HUD oddities on the side screens.
