[Ultrawide Request]The Bard's Tale IV (2018) -- 21:9

Greetings Widescreen Wizards,
this is my first request on these fine forums, and I'd like to ask for your help with the Unreal Engine 4 game "The Bard's Tale IV" that came out yesterday.
While it does allow to select 3440x1440 as a resolution ingame, that apparently only affects the internal render resolution, as the image itself is put onscreen with black bars left and right, i.e. output resolution appears to be 2560x1440-form factor.
There is a weird glitch when playing around with the Resolution Downscale slider, which the turns the output resolution apparently to fullscreen ultrawide 21:9, but not by actually rendering it in 3440x1440 but instead by stretching it to fullscreen, which royally screws up FoV and makes everything look bloated.
I've taken a look at the .inis, however nothing there seems to work ... maybe one would need to add some new arguments, but I wouldn't know which, if so.
Long story short, I'd very much appreciate if someone could get proper 21:9 Ultrawide 3440x1440 output working for this game -- I could supply an .exe file via private message if needed.
Thanks in advance!
