Has anyone tried tinkering with the Alpha to make it render properly within Nvidia Surround 5760x1080 or anything of the like?

Yes,

i tried it out with AMD, it's Vert- looks horrible!
even system.cfg edit did not help to get the Cry Engine back on feet :(

On my 2560x1080 (21:9) monitor I had to just randomly click buttons trying to find the graphic options. I hope we can get something.

I know its in alpha, but why do game developers still have these vert- issues :(

Yep, another game we have to make the devs aware of that this is 2014.

I see Haldi has started a thread here:
https://talk.turtlerockstudios.com/t/wi ... me/22140/2

and there also seems to be a few on Steam:

Everyone make sure you head to both and hit up twitter/facebook to keep on this.

In case you need to navigate the menus blind to switch out of a bogus resolution the "konami code" to change your resolution is:
4th menu item (options),
2nd menu item( video)
2nd menu item(resolution),

...here, current resolution will be selected. menu up a 4 or 5 times to get to a working resolution, press A,

then menu down 3 more times and press A to apply changes.

You can't navigate the menus with arrow keys, I was only able to do it with my controller ( you might want to unplug your mouse to keep it from stealing focus).
Hope this helps.

It seems I was invited into the closed beta. Same issue here, the main menu is cropped in. Can't see anything. Luckily the in-game itself runs just fine, but I can't see my stats when I evolve. Not to mention performance is staggering.

Looks like we'll have to wait for some type of fix.

According to this you can use launch options to force certain resolution. Works for my 1920x1200.
https://talk.turtlerockstudios.com/t/pc-config-file-location/26831
Just right click the game in steam library > Properties > Set Launch Options... > paste this (adjust accordingly):

Code: Select all

+r_Width 1920 +r_Height 1200

As of right now (not-so-closed beta on steam) it's impossible to play on triple-wide just by setting in-game resolution. There's no option to set FOV either... I hope this will be better at the launch in February.

I thought about buying this game, but I just don't see enough there to spend $60 on and the lack of support for widescreen and multi-monitor resolutions is a major letdown as well. This game has less than a month until release, I won't be pre-ordering it unless the devs confirm they are going to fix widescreen and multi-monitor issues.

*update* After posting this I read a thread where a moderator said they are looking into fixing this.

Don't forget the 15$ Monster DLC!

Egads! I just read about that today earlier. Noooo thanks, over priced much? I'm going to be straight up passing on this game. I love the concept, but I find the execution to be somewhat lacking in areas.

I read this as well and I just don't see what the big deal is. I'm still getting the game, and I'll hold off judgement on the monster DLC until it's actually been released. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Solution to Ultra Wide screen Monitor issue.
Step 1- Use Notepad to open Settings.xml in C:\Steam\userdata\<user-id>\273350\local\USER\Profiles\default
Step 2- Change: <Attr name="settings/screenresheight" value="1440"/>
Step 3- Change: <Attr name="settings/screenreswidth" value="2560"/>
(Now your menus will function properly.)
Step 4- Use Notepad to open system.cfg in C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\EvolveGame
Step 5- Add: cl_fov_merc = 100
Step 6- Add: cl_fov_monsterThirdPerson = 100
(Increases FoV)
Step 7- Change: r_height = 1080
Step 8- Change: r_width = 2560
(This sets your resolution in the game itself.)

This is a guess for the eyefinity users out there. If your resolution is 1080 by 5760, then multiply the horizontal resolution by .5625 to get the value for step 2.

In Step 2 put <Attr name="settings/screenresheight" value="3240"/>

It is untested, since I do not run eyefinity anymore.

Additional tips:
After previewing commands at: http://docs.cryengine.com/display/CRYAUTOGEN/CONSOLEPREFIXR , I added the following...

Use Notepad to open system.cfg in C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\EvolveGame
Add the following lines:
r_MultiGPU = 1
r_MultiThreaded = 2

MultiGPU is for SLI/Crossfire, and Multithreaded is for a multicore CPU. I don't know that it is necessary, but it didn't hurt.

tried your fix, my file didnt already have r_height and r_width so I added them, and the game just boots in 800x600. Im running eyefinity. Change to 5760x1080 in in game options for same vert- as usual. Not sure whats up

Are you having problems with the menu screens or the game itself?

For the menu screens follow steps 1-3.
Step 1- Use Notepad to open Settings.xml in C:\Steam\userdata\<user-id>\273350\local\USER\Profiles\default
Step 2- Change: <Attr name="settings/screenresheight" value="3240"/>
Step 3- Change: <Attr name="settings/screenreswidth" value="5760"/>
This is assuming your resolution is 1080 by 5760.

Yeah none of those tweaks work. If you force your triple screen resolution via config you get a vert- image, where the menu's are also Vert- and are just visible on the left side monitor (nut not usable). If you triple the vertical resolution you get a stretched image and the game runs like shit. The devs need to fix this one I'm afraid.

As I stated in my prior posts, this did work for my 21:9 setup. I was only guessing as to it working for eyefinity. I'm sorry it didn't.

I can confirm that this method does not work for eyefinity.

Are the people behind Flawlesswidescreen / Widescreenfixer able to help with this?
I am under the impression that the menus are the only broken part of the game in Multi-Monitor.
The rest (resolution, fov) in game seems fine to me.

Thx.
