Question about SLI and Surround

I just got 2 780s. I upgraded from a pair of 6950s.
It doesn't seem possible to disable SLI and play surround incase a game has bad sli stuttering. I primarily went with NVIDIA for the upcoming G-Sync technology. What's the preferred method that current users use to switch from SLI to Non SLI? Is this something you expect will be fixed in a driver release or will it require a new generation? I still have 3 weeks left to send them back. Do you guys think g-sync will fix all this stuff so I don't have to worry about disabling SLI at all?
