Hi Guys

As I've been looking through WSGF I see there was a period of phpBB then you moved to Drupal and now back to phpBB, is that correct?

Anyway I searched for Tapatalk and there were a few mentions although mainly an "it can't be used with Drupal forums".

Now you are on phpBB again are you going to look into Tapatalk?

For the forums side, yes. We've been phpBB2 (long time) > phpBB3 (short time) > Drupal Advanced Forum > phpBB3. On the "content" side, we previously had a mix of static html/php and Mediawiki. That has all been migrated to Drupal as well. We didn't go back on that part, just the forums.

At one point during the first phpBB3 phase, I had tried Forum Runner, an alternative to Tapatalk. I'm not opposed at all to integrating Tapatalk. Hopefully it could play nice with the phpBB > Drupal integration.

Tapatalk also offers a service for custom-branded app. http://tapatalk.com/build.php That might be cool. Only problem is the $29 (iOS or Android) or $39 (both) monthly fee. That might be worth it though. Mobile traffic is currently 4.7% of total traffic. That is up from 2.9% last year. A mobile ap would probably help that.

The custom apps do offer ad support, which could help offset the cost. Would anyone be offended by that?

Edit - Looks like it will work with Drupal+phpBB3. This is for D7, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with D6. http://support.tapatalk.com/threads/inc ... post-69559

Cool :) Happy Days

You could go "standard" Tapatalk to begin with see what the traffic is like then maybe get the app.

Talking about this on a "My usage" I would love it to happen as I have restricted access at work for the web and when on the road would love it on mobile. The issue I unfortunately have is I'm a Windows Phone 8 user, an Indie guy created Foroplex which is the best option as Tapatalk is not available yet, Foroplex doesn't have the forum selector and you need to type the url manually however the Indie guy is now employed by Tapatalk and is working on the win phone version :)

You would gain at least one happy guy who would use it a lot :twothumb:

Skipclarke has pretty much said it all, but I wanted to share my thoughts also, im down for the integration, so watch this space and we will see what we can make happen :)
(note there is a small backlog of tasks we need to clear off first before investigating this)

One of the many things I like about this forum/community is that if someone has a request or suggestion for features and support, then we do try real hard to implement such ideas. :)

Thanks delphium

it wasn't a demand so please don't feel pushed to rush etc

I'm just glad to be part of wsgf as the widescreen knowledge I've gained in such a small time is just epic

We didn't take it as a demand. We're happy to get good suggestions from the community. We're really happy and grateful you're here. We like involved people. ^_^

I've got Tapatalk installed, and I have the site registered through Tapatalk. If you search in the app, you can find the WSGF and browse away.

I'm not getting the notice that Tapatalk is installed, when you visit through a mobile browser. I've posted on the Tapatalk forum for help.

Give it a whirl and let me know how it works.
