Crossfire only working in fullscreen - any workaround?

Post by pox67 »

Hey All,

got a new graphic card setup - 2 x Sapphire Dual-X Boost 7970s.
Nice cards so far.

Crossfire is working in games when they are Fullscreen but not in Windowed mode. Is there any workaround for that?

Basically I like to play two characters at once in SWToR so the game must be in Windowed mode and then Crossfire doesn't work. If I launch a single game in Fullscreen then Crossfire works.

I discovered that I can play the game on high settings on only one of these cards which is pretty amazing (3600x1920 res) so Crossfire isn't strictly necessary but more is always better!
Intel 3930k (stock speed), Asus P9X79 LE, 16GB of some ram. 240gb SSD and 1TB Raid 0. Silverstone Fortress FT02 case.

2 x Sapphire 7970 Dual-X OC/Boost

3 x Dell 2412 in 3P 3600x1920 (3880x1920 bezel corrected)

Hi Pox67,

I'm afraid that a limitation inherent to Crossfire, it only works in full screen. Sorry!

Same goes for Nvidia SLI, both technologies work only in full screen mode.

Actually before the 7970's I had SLi GTX 670s. They worked just fine in SLi with SWToR in windowed mode.

Seems AMD is still a step behind in the dual card stakes, these Sapphire 7970s are damn fast cards though.

After some research, I do indeed stand corrected. Been a long time since I had nvidia, glad to see they had this improvement, I never knew it.

Must be a driver issue, it would be nice if AMD got that working.
