hI I am a little confused about eyefinity

I currently have a 6770 and 5770 in crossfire and I am running 3 dell monitors 19" in portrait 2904x1440 with bezel adjustmens, I want to upgrade to a 7850 and run 3 maybe 4 monitors.

Will I need a DVI and 2 active mini Displayport to DVI adaptors or can I use passive ones on the 7850?

yes, you'd need active adapters (they don't have to be usb powered!)
except you'd buy an Flex edition card! then you wouldn't need any adapters at all.
