Recently I had the urge to play THUG 1, but didn't feel like playing it on a PS2 or emulator. Luckily there was a 2004 PC release in Australia which I was able to acquire.

Anyway the copy I found didn't have the original CD-Key, so that brings us to the first file attached. If you extract the files from the DVD and replace this one, it will allow the installer to accept THUG2 CD-Keys (which are much easier to come by).

The second file is a patch to re-enable the widescreen menu that the PS2 version has. Your still stuck with 640x480/800x600/1024x768/1280x1024, but the game looks pretty decent on a 1080p screen if you force 8xAA / 16xAF.

Note: The patch enables 16x9 stretch or 16x9 letterbox zoom ONLY (although technically it could be changed to allow other aspect ratios). Other resolutions are not possible until someone removes the SafeDisc encryption.

Hey Quad5Ny! Tnx for the patch, aspect ratio correction works great, but still stuck with that 1280x1024 (I have 42" TV with 1920x1080). An only question: how did u managed to do that 1920x1080 screenshot?! So u obtained the 1080p native resolution?! Or just reseized the picture?

It's 1280x1024 resized to 1920x1080 using Paint.net.

The only way to get true widescreen would require someone cracking the copy protection on THUG.exe (the exe is encrypted). After its cracked, we could edit the resolutions by using a hex editor.

(just plug in that patch in the games folder)
*then in game go to options,screen mode



start a game first then options not main meu
the widescreen its not universal so choose 16:9 every time you play

Anyone down for cracking the exe file for custom resolutions?

can you get a Widescreen patch for that?

Choose resolution - 1280x1024 in the game launcher.
Copy file 1920x1080_THUG.exe to folder Activision\Tony Hawk's Underground\Game and run it.

What mean doesn't work? It doesn't work because Norton deleted it or you get error message?
Since this game is protected by SafeDisc I can not directly edit the executable file, so I have to use a loader that will change the required bytes. However, some antivirus programs have a false positive on the loader, because loader uses a packer similar to some viruses. Turn off the antivirus before starting game.

with what do I START the game with THE 1080 file or the games default launcher

You should run game using 1920x1080_THUG.exe, rather than using game launcher.

Hey there, nice patch. Quad5Ny or BHT88, would either of you still happen to have the "THUG_Widescreen_Patch.7z" that was uploaded? I'm looking to play on 16:9 myself. If the files aren't around, I'd appreciate it if anyone could explain to me just what I might have to change in the game folders to enable 16x9 stretch or 16x9 letterbox zoom.

Hey jackfuste cheers for the patch - I was wondering if there would be a way to set other resolutions e.g. 1440x900, 2560x1440, 2880×1800 etc or if you still have the source code for the patch so I could try these out myself?

the jackfuste patch is better because it has the 1080p

the first patch just made a 4:3 picture wider

Still looking for a THUG 2 Widescreen and HD fix.....

I just thought I would upload this patch for use with jackfuste's loader. it fixes the cut-scenes so that when they are finished it doesn't screw up the fov. also it gets rid of the letter-boxing.

Hi there !

I would really like to play this game with nVidia 3dTV Play, but I have to set the resolution to 1280x720.. and unfortunately it doesn't work with iZ3D driver.
Is there a possibility to make a launcher like the 1080p one ? (or modify it to display 720p instead)
