XFX 5870 Crossfire Eyefinity problems
Posted: 13 Dec 2011, 00:09
Hello All,
First post and welcome all I have a few questions to ask regarding eyefinity and gaming.
I have 2x XFX Radeon HD 5870 crossfire (product code code: HD-587X-ZNFC).
Intel core i7 950 3.06GHz (stock).
Japanese Power supply 1200w and i know this is a good part so I'm not worried about that.
Cooler: Corsair H100 (took me some time to fit, things huge).
I have 24GB RAM running 1333 configured in BIOS so I know its done properly and it reads in system information under BIOS.
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Case: Thermaltake Spedo advance package (love this case)
Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth x58 both cards are running on x16 PCIE 2.0
I have the 11.11 Drivers CCC from the amd site and 11.11 CAP 3 for application profile.
3xDell 24' 1920x1200 = 5760x1200 (I know, its ridiculous)
Okay,
Now my questions.
I know with that big resolution (5760x1200) there will be lag but i did not expect it to grind to a halt when playing STALKER: COP, at most maybe 12 FPS. Half life 2 Lost Coast is about 9 FPS!!! I am very disappointed how i cant even get to those gaming frames, not even close. Is this because of a driver issue? needs time? what gives?
I heard that MSI afterburner works well as a monitoring app, but does this work with XFX 5870 in crossfire? what good monitoring apps are there that i dont need to spend?
Is there a better way to download drivers?" I mean is there a better website where it would show beta drivers or anything that might be better than the amd driver look up? or is it all the same?
I know the 5760x1200 is huge and I figure it would lag but i was hoping to at least play and not brew coffee and watch a freakin slideshow ofr half an hour. I thought STALKER COP could handle this. I tried to disable crossfire and got BSOD lol so i don't wanna do that again.
any suggestions or fixes? please help.
Thanks!!!
