6950 Dirt3 Edition Eyefinity Problem
Posted: 04 Oct 2011, 18:02
Greetings,
This is my first post in these forums... hopefully I can be helped!
I just picked up two Sapphire Radeon HD 6950's 2gb. I am upgrading from a 5850.
Problem:
With my 5850 I ran a 3 monitor eyefinity setup using 3 samsung 2343bwx monitors and a sapphire active displayport to dual link dvi adapter.
I threw my new cards into my rig last week and since then have been unable to get them working with all three monitors.
This is exactly whats happening:
-both DVI monitors can be seen once in windows, and used normally.
-once in windows, the displayport monitor does not have a signal going to it. CCC recognizes the monitor but it always remains black.
-The monitor shows up in CCC and it looks like it is recognized. When it is enabled, CCC think its working, but the monitor is not receiving a signal
-while at the bios screen and loading into windows, the display port monitor displays the bios screen and the windows loading screen.
-if i power down and put my 5850 in, i can configure my eyefinity group with no problems.
Motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
CPU: Intel Core i7 920
RAM: 3 x 2gb sticks of DDR3 OCZ Reaper
Video Card: Sapphire 6950 2gb Dirt 3 Edition (I have 2 but am just trying to get one going for now)
PSU: OCZ Fatality 700W
Monitor: Samsung 2343bwx (x3) 2 hooked up by DVI, the third hooked up via Sapphire Active Dual Link Displayport Adapter
Hard drives: Intel SSD 80gb (OS), Seagate 1tb (Storage)
Optical Drives: N/A
Additional PCI cards: Razer Barracuda AC-1 Soundcard
Number of fans present: 2 x 140mm, 1 x 120mm, 1 x 200mm (Storm Sniper Case)
Operating System : Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
Video Card Drivers in Use ( and tried ): I have tried 11.9 11.8, and 11.5 all with the same results. right now i'm running 11.9
Apps/Games causing issues: Everything in Windows
All major components check 100% after thorough testing: Yes - works perfect when i swap my 5850 back in.
System clean of viruses / spyware etc: Yes
Other things tried:
-I've read about a workaround where you unplug and plug in the displayport connector, but there isn't any real details on it, and what i've tried hasn't worked.
-I've tried all kinds of driver sweeps and driver updates to no avail. The worst part is, is that as soon as I put my 5850 back into the computer everything works great.
-The monitor shows up in CCC and it looks like it is recognized. When it is enabled, CCC think its working, but the monitor does not receive a signal.
-I have managed to get the displayport monitor working in windows by either setting the resolution on it to either 800x600 or 1280x1024.
any ideas?
i'm pulling my hair out here and am starting to regret picking these new cards up!
thanks in advance!
