Dear forum,

I've been trawling the internet now for a few months on and off, trying to find the general consensus on what is the best three monitor setup for gaming.
I came across the Samsung MD230x3, thinking this was the answer to my questions, only to read a review claiming that it doesn't handle quick motion too well at all.
Seeing as though my main focus will be FPS games, this is a concern.

I've read about people using three Dell 24inch Ultrasharps, but I would say the bezel width would be problematic in FPS games.

Are there any other eyefinity centric setups that would fly under the radar? Has anyone heard any news about newer versions similar to the MD230x3 coming out soon?

This is basically the last component for my new PC I'm building.

I am using 3 Dell U2410 displays and the bezels do not bother me one bit. I play mostly FPS games, if you've got the money the Dells are a great way to go.

Any IPS panel is nice. The bezel on those 2410's is only 12mm or so.

I've seen some handsome Samsungs (S27A750D), they fit some sort of bill I guess; low response, thin bezel, 120hz. However, the resolutions they list as 'recommended' is only 1920 x 1080.
Why is it so difficult to find a decent 23-27 inch, thin bezel, low ms and possibly 120hz screen with decent resolution?

I'm looking at the dell 27inch Ultrasharps, as they have 2560x1440- but apparent reports of some ghosting. How important would 2560x1440 be over 3 monitors? Overkill? A lot of 27inch monitors only support 1920x1080, is this more than enough? I own a 3008WFP (Dell 30inch), so am used to 2560x1440.
The Samsung S27A750D seems to be a good option if 1920x1080 is plenty. Good colours, good contrast, well priced, minimal input lag, 120hz and low ms.

The S27A950D I think just has additional inputs, which I won't need as the 6970s has displayport.

Dell U2411 is 1920x1080 and is a very good/cheap IPS panel, I would just go with that.

No point in going with 27" @ 1920x1080 since you're just paying more for the same resolution (and that's all that matters). If you're gonna whip out more money go all the way to 2560x1440/1600 instead.

What your saying makes sense. However the Dell U2410 retails for $700, whereas the Samsung S27A950D retails for $540. To go to the Dell 27inch, is $800.
Wouldn't the super think bezel, 2ms response, no input lag and price make the samsung a better choice?

That's 25% more expensive for 11% more pixels. Please help us understand your math.

Don't forget that jumping up from the 1920x1080 resolution will also hurt your fps quit a bit. I would never recommend to anyone wanting to run and eyefinity setup to go with a resolution higher than 1920x1080 monitors. The performance suffers too much.

I just prefer 16:10 monitors, especially if you ever run in portrait mode. I currently have P2310H's, so I can relate to the P2311's pretty well. IMO they are too thin for portrait. I wouldn't mind having a little extra vertical space. I keep my monitors for a while, so a little extra up front isn't a big deal.

Preference is fine and all that, but when you say "best bang for the buck" you should be expected to back that up with solid math.

I got 3x cheap monitors ($220 x 3) and removed plastic body from each. Now I have 9mm bezel (was 19mm)

Wow, that is a great deal for a 1920x1200 monitor. If I didn't have my NEC EA231WMis already I would totally buy the U2412Ms.

I've decided to buy the Dell U3011, and stick to what I've known with 30inch gaming. I have an older 30inch from Dell (2007 model) as well.
I've literally just booted my new computer I built, and am curious how to get two 30 inch monitors at 2560x1600 res.
I have two 6970s crossfired. Both monitors have dual-link DVI cables.

Currently both monitors are plugged into the one 6970, with my main monitor (U3011) in the DVI-I slot and is running at 2560x1600. The 2007 30inch is in the other DVI slot, which I believe is DVI-D, and it will not run above 1920x1080.
If I plug it into the DVI-I slot in the 2nd 6970, it doesn't bring up an image at all, same with the second DVI-D.

Hard to find help on this issue, anything info would be of great assistance.

I've read that you need to run the 2nd (3rd, 4th, 5th etc) from the Displayport if you want higher than 1280x800. So I will need apparently an 'active' mini-displayport to dual-link DVI converter. Does this seem right?

Yea only one dvi supports 1600p so you need an active adapter for the second monitor or use a displayport connection if the monitor has that. You probably have crossfire turned on, which is why you get a blank screen when you plug it into the second card. Disable crossfire and the second monitor will work on the second card.
