Help with a frustrating problem

Post by Smudgster »

Hi All

Ive been gaming on my machine since Oct, enjoying eyefinity. My machines was running a XFX 5850 and tbh it was all ok.

I decided to upgrade the card to a MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5, I though at the same time I would do a format and clean install!!!

Everything went ok on the install, loaded all the new drivers and setup eyefinity again using a res of 5760*1080. Computer is running great for general, surfing, stream and DL. however, as soon as I boot a game up it runs rubbish and every game I have tried from LFS to iRacing to Dirt3 & GTR Evo are all the same. iRacing is running at 30fps. I have even turned it down to minimum detail and its still the same!!!! :x

So I uninstalled the drivers, re dowloaded from AMD and re-installed but this has made no difference what so ever.

Help please, what should I try next?? Should I reformat and install Win 7 again just incase?? or do you thinkk it could be a card fault??

Thanks in advance

Yours is an old post, so no doubt you resolved your issue. But i'm curious what it was.
I had a similar issues when installing CCC drivers in April/May 2011. Frame rate in games dropped 70%. I'm still using older drivers and havn't tried any new CCC drivers since August 2011 I think.
