What are ''intermediate resolutions''? (ATI Eyefinity FAQ)

Q1: What exactly are those ''intermediate resolutions'' mentioned in the FAQ?
Say, if the 3 monitors have 1920x1080 as native, what other resolutions can be used for a 3x1 Eyefinity Group? It is plural and so it is more than one.

Q2:
2 ''identical'' system...one with DTH2G and one with Eyefinity setup...same resolution (say, 3x 1680x1050)....same card (say, HD5870).
How do these 2 technologies compare in the framerate department?

TIA for sharing your experience/input.

For 1080p panels, the lower resolution would be 1600x900 and anythinglower would be (unfortunately) 800x600, and it get lower from there and they are 4:3 resolutions.

Well if the 5000 series supported the TH2Go past 3840x1024, the the frame rate theoretically should be the same. Since Eyefinity is hardware based SLS tech, as is the TH2Go.
